I think perhaps people questioning the morality of using QR status to enter the QF lounges, then once in, switching to QFF is actually 'Is it fair for QR to just pay for all VA refugees lounge access and get nothing in return'. So its about whether this is taking advantage of QR....

This is actually great news for QF agreed its win / win / win - as long as they can manage the numbers without annoying other members - but I suspect business travel will be muted for a while so everyone should be able to fit in!

Given that QR specifically targeted VA members with this match I am tipping that they knew there was a likelihood that only a small percentage of those people were regular INTL travelers. In my opinion they have rolled the dice and accepted that for the cost of allowing us to access the QF lounge they are gaining a valuable database and may win some INTL business which would have gone to EY/SQ. For what it's worth my Gold match will mean that I seriously consider QR for a trip to Europe next year, restrictions permitting.

I've just (in the last few minutes) received notification of my status match to Qatar Gold, so they are still processing applications. Hold in there those who are still waiting

Still waiting. Submitted originally on the 18th received my service request number on the 2nd and then nothing. Followed up through the service centre 2 days ago, request is still sitting as ‘new’

Scrap that, just received my confirmation now. Looks like they're still working through them!

was Etihad gold - upgraded to platinum mid-May and now matched to QR Plat - great outcome !!

I’ve just received my Gold Qatar email too. Matched to Virgin Gold.
Pretty Happy with that!!

I was beginning to think I’d missed out.
submitted my original email request on the 19th Of May.
it appeared as a Service Request about a week ago.
just this afternoon, I had written to them (via the online service request) to politely ask if they required any more information from me.

Got the Gold for 12 months and 40 Qcredits (not sure what these mean, but I’m grateful!)

will fly Qatar to Europe, when the skies reopen!!

Just got Platinum.

I had to resend documents (I'd sent two monthly email statements, and advice of renewal of platinum to April 2021, was requested to send "statement" that I see when I log in to Velocity and membership showing expiry, so sent expiry date from my digital card).

Email indicating service call was resolved came through about 30 minutes before the welcome to Platinum.

You don't link it to your QF account - it's a Qatar Platinum but you can use the benefits on Qantas

I've now been brought in from the cold. Matched to QR Gold. YAY!! (FWIW)

One thing that worried me was my original VA gold expired on 18 May (a day before I sent my original application). I had no card indicating that it had been extended but I sent a screenshot from the VA website indicating the extension.

Got my VA Gold match this afternoon. Big shout out to the original post from Gold Member. Plus AFF and the Velocity Customer Service team who sent out my statement within 30 minutes of my request.

This certainly has me working out already how to get the 2 year extension so a great marketing ploy by QR I think. Imagine if QF, SQ and others return fire, wouldn't that be a beautiful thing?

Just flash at the lounge, but if you want to keep your newfound QR status, you have to enter your QR number in your booking
