And just to make you even more confused, you can search for a classic award for, say, SIN-TPE, which will give you options on CX and 3K. However, it doesn't allow you to search for a classic award ex-TPE...

There are many such combinations and permutations. One we looked at was Dubrovnik(DBV)- LGW. LGW-DBV was available but DBV-LGW was not. The 6,000 pt phone service fee does not hurt so much for long hauls, it's negligible. But for some of these shorter redemptions it adds 40-60% to the award pricing.Another one I've noticed, a bit OT admittedly, is the very limited number of destinations offered in the Caribbean for booking online (on AA services). For example MIA-Kingston, Jamaica is bookable online, but MIA-Montego Bay, Jamaica is not.

JED, CAI, MLE

As a new poster, you might choose to be a little bit more respectful to others who respond to your posts....

First, all three destination can be booked on Qantas.com in award booking with departure city of London, which is the entire point of my point. So these are incorrect answer. But thanks for trying.

And second, please kindly explain how I have not been respectful to Mr. Markis10? Should I not have said Thanks for the efforts?

Except no one here seems to have a firm answer on why it is not bookable online while BA and AB flies to Abu Dhabi daily from Europe.

If it is a regional thing, then why Kuwait, Bahrain, Dubai and Doha are all bookable.

If it is a country thing, then why Dubai is bookable (OK, EK flies to there but it is not an explanation rather than pointing out to the fact like I have pointed out the fact that you can not book Abu Dhabi online).

If it is a technological thing, nobody would believe that you could simply not put Abu Dhabi in the system.

If it is an airline thing, then why 99% of BA and more than 90% of AB destinations are bookable online? And EK do have a Abu Dhabi destination although it is bus.

I am just trying to make sense of a little unusual thing.

Over here in Australia us colonials normally pick up the dog and bone (telephone) when confronted with such first world problems and try going to the source directly, tends to save time, although we don't mind the odd guessing game at the expense of our peers back in the old homeland on the odd occasion, so long as sport is not mentioned ;).

People here will help out on a query to the best of their knowledge; sometimes with some guessing, to various degrees of education. But there are a number of mysteries in the QF universe and the airline fundament in general.

You may die wondering by relying solely on this forum; "we" are not all knowing/all seeing. How about doing all of us a favour: telephone Qantas, ask the question and post their answer here?

Perhaps Qantas needs to offset some of their call centre costs by collecting a few 6000 point booking fees every now and then.

BA flies to Livingstone, Zambia daily and its not on the list.

Yes indeed. Great find. Thanks. Although I have to point out that it is Comair flies Joh'burg to Livingstone. BA does not provide a direct flight using its metal. However, a further search suggest no award booking is possible from Joh'burg to Livingstone online. Although it does not fit in my original thinking as of BA metal direct from London, but it is a great find.

Agree in general. However, I think 'we' and 'us' are not democratically selected so far.

Qantas telephone agent could only repeat the corporate line. If they know what is going on I am sure some insiders here would know 'millions of years' ago.

And for those still interested, although I think majority are not bothered, you could book DUS to HKT via Abu Dhabi with Qantas online with two separate Air Berlin flights. So technically Abu Dhabi is bookable online, but not as standing alone destination.

don't mention cricket

How about one that's in the dropdown list (DRS - Dresden) that you can't actually book even though EK (actually AB) will let you book it on their site? So just because it's in the dropdown list doesn't mean you can actually fly there.

Thank you for pointing out. However, I could not find Dresden in dropdown list. I have tried the departure city as London, London Heathrow, Dusseldorf, Dubai and Sydney.

Are you a Qantas employee tasked to see which airports aren't showing up on the classic awards drop-down menu, but is too lazy to do it yourself, so are asking people here?
