Yep QF will follow shortly for the same/very similar dates no doubt!

As for November I wouldn't be holding your breath for another sale

No sale announced, but looked at the QF website this morning and SYD-MEL is down to $89 for my end of november flight. My wait paid off!

Well done! Sale ends 13 October for travel 10 November to 19 December 2013 and 13 January to 30 June 2014...

Beaudy! I was looking for return MEL/BNE flights around Easter and $179 was up there - $119 much better, saving $120!

Maybe announced as MEL sale but when I just looked at BNE-PER in Feb (something about an AGM ?) it was $209.
I think that is a fair comparison with the MEL-PER of $199.

Happy wandering

Fred

It's on again for the same travel period 10 November to 19 December 2013! Sale ends 24 October although some fares seem a little higher than the previous one...

Still waiting for VA to match! They are usualy onto it an hour after the Qantas emails go out... Not this time though. Maybe they wont?!

Looks like VA is attempting but they are having system issues. A search around the same dates will show some cheaper not yet posted pricing, but only saver with full fare saver light, or vice versa. Will wait for the email.

I would love to be able to guess how low they are going with their airfares during sales so I can purchase at the right time. $99, $89, $85, $79.

Are forward sales really that bad?

Just snagged a couple of MEL-SYD return flights in Jan to line up with a USDM booking out of SYD. I'll take $156 return :) Thanks QF!!

OOL SYD $69

Ahhh this explains why VA has brought their OOL prices down for the first time in months.

CBR-OOL (via SYD) in J is 50% off @ $449. Not too shabby for 80SCs

This hasn't turned out as pretty as I was hoping, but thought I'd share some results here in case this was of interest...

I've been tracking QF Domestic sales for the last 12 months, noting when the sale was announced, when the sale offer period expired and the sale travel period. The results may be interesting for people to get an idea when a sale may be announced for a particular travel period.

It was hard to get a good scale, so sorry that the picture may be hard to read. The Period covers April 2013 through until November/December 2014. Each sale is represented by three lines:
1. the date the sale was announced
2. when the sale expires
3. the travel period

I've also capture the sale values for BNE-SYD (and BNE-CNS, as these are destinations I'm most interested in for my QF domestic travel), but can't represent the values on the chart yet... it'd be good to be able to colour-code the bars depending on how deep the discount was during the sale period.

The latest domestic sale has SYD-BNE/MEL at $109.

That is the highest sale airfare I have seen in ~6 years. Just like Qantas is trying to save money I am also trying to save money.

I won't be booking flights that far ahead and I will be spending less. Those cheap VA OOL-SYD airfares are starting to look very attractive again.

From what little I can read of the graph. The black dot looking things indicate when the booking period is (announcement of sale and the end of the sale) and the blue bar indicates the travel dates the sale applies to.

If there's a pattern, with some analysis you can come up with a rough idea of when QF will announce a sale for a certain travel period.
