I also looked up the dimensions and the carry on size exceeds Qantas’ standard, unless I’m missing something

Well why would you need tracking on your carry on? Presumably it's designed for checked baggage.

I’m not the one that is marketing 2 sizes, one labelled “carry on” and the other “checked”

It essentially has an inbuilt AirTag given it works with the Find My network. Benefits are minor though, more around you can't lose the tag or forget to put one in.

Well why would you need tracking on your carry on? Presumably it's designed for checked baggage.

I've had a Tile then AirTag on my carry on for about a decade now. From the top of my mind, it's useful when:

• you've been caught out by the carry on weight enforcement.
• you need to gate check due to full overhead bins.
• to check in liquids for a short international trip.
• when leaving your bags with a hotel concierge.
