Qantas Wine latest offering

Yes, took advantage of this deal as I was "dry" :D meaning no wine....

So to complement my new "tiny" wine fridge, I also bought QF wine.

Worked out well; came to 1.36c for approx 152K points.

Coming up to end of year and wondering if its worth buying up to keep my PC+.
A few things Id like to know if someone could kindly assist.
If we are to attain the deal from the email with the 30k points _ 15k points per extra 1k spend, can we apply our 10% off discount over the phone? Historically i think they cannot. If so whats the benefit of PC+ when anyone can just avail the deal over the phone?

I am looking at the following

The "Only VIP Red Dozen" Route (6 Cases)

  • Total Spend: $5,400 (6 cases $\times$ $900)
  • Case Bonus Points: 270,000 points (6 cases $\times$ 45,000)
  • VIP Spend Bonus: 75,000 points
    • ($30,000 for the first $2,000 + $15,000 for hitting $3,000, $4,000, and $5,000)
  • Standard Points: 5,400 points (assuming 1 point per dollar)
Total Earned: 350,400 points

My second question is, points are changing to something new, is it a waste of time to chase PC+ when all I do is use points strictly for J Rewards from Manila to Sydney therefore I dont need status anymore as I will only use the points for J.

I lost my gold after i stopped working overseas, about to lose silver and now about to lose my PC+ If i dont jump on the may deal. Im also sober for 18 months so any wine purchases will either be sold off cheap (enquire within) or stored for future relapses.
