Qantas Wine latest offering

I am running low on quaffable reds, and was about to push the button on some Saltram Mamre Brook Shiraz when the email arrived with the latest mixed dozens.

Does anyone have any experience of the wines in the Mixed Red Celebration dozen ($180), other than the Yering Station? epiQure says this dozen is "valued at $598, but that is largely because the Port is $349 and the Jacobs Creek Shiraz $130. That would mean the other 11 bottles are "valued at" $11 each.

Note that the Xanadu is a Yering product so likely to be good, generally I would value the wine at $15 a bottle (note thats less than what the bottles are selling as a straight case).

I can't believe the port is worth that much, I do think it's outstanding though. I have drunk one bottle and still have one left so might save it for a special occasion or maybe I have to buy a few more of these mixed dozen's to get some more. I was thinking of buying some of the Mamre Brook last night from Dan's as well but I was sure it was $25 from epqiqure which it is. It's $30 at Dan's. I don't think you can go wrong with the Wynns, Devils Lair, Xanadu or the Yering which is excellent. People have been going on about Chardonnays that could strip paint but the Xanadu one I got in another mixed dozen was very good. I have found most Xanadu wines to be very good.

Thanks. I'm not much of a port drinker, and already have a bottle of the Jacobs Creek that was included as a bonus in one of the x-mas cases, so without any bonus points this might be one to pass on. Is the Mamre Brook any good? the epiQure offering is $20 less for six bottles than Dan Murphy's.

Looks like a great deal! I don't see Flametree Chardonnay as part of this dozen! The only wines I see as dubious are the Junipers Crossing Chardonnay (I didn't much like the Juniper's Cab Merlot in the festive dozen) and the Sauv Blanc (I don't like Sauv Blanc!). At an average of $16.50 per bottle, all wines appear to be well below the Dan Murphy's price (except the Juniper, which is the same price at Dan's).

Yeah, got me of the sidelines & into the Epiqure game....nice little points earner - lets hope they drink well.

I don't drink Port all that much either but this bottle is outstanding, if you don't have any of this I would recommend getting the dozen just to get a bottle of the Port. I understand where you are coming from in regards to the points though. Actually just typing this response, I saw the offer includes the Jacobs Creek Padthaway Shiraz. I got a couple bonus bottles of that pre Xmas and opened one sometime around Xmas day. I can say it is a really good Shiraz. I have way to much wine but I think I am going to have to buy this dozen now.

I like the look of this weeks offer, especially 3000 bonus points for 6 bottles of this! If you or a aprtner are not a member there is a code in the latest QF mag for a $59 signup including free tawny ;) if you want to also take advantage of the first dozen and four dozen bonuses.

Oh, now I understand your meaning - bit slow on the uptake . Next time my daughter and son will be buying, maybe even my wife if I can afford it :D

This is only my 2nd dozen, so a couple to go for me.

With a dozen of these, that only leaves me one more dozen for the bonus. So about 7500 points for $360 outlay ... and a dozen reasonable reds thrown in as well
