Hey Everyone

Am I the only one receiving SMSes like this from Qantas?

nnnnnn is your Qantas
Verification Code. Unexpected
SMS? Call 13 11 31

I have called Qantas twice. First time they said the IT guys were testing. *in production*

Second time now, the IT people don't know.

I've received unsolicited SMSed like these:

Saturday 1:04am
Sunday 10:37pm
Tuesday 11:32am
Today (Wednesday) 11:49am

No login attempts were made on these days

Bizarro...

Mike

That's strange. I'm in the pilot for the double verification stuff that does involve texting (there's a thread here about it) but I only get a text when I've tried logging in.

Maybe someone else can access your account and that's what's happening?

Now that you mention it, I do use AwardWallet... Thats what is probably causing the problem.
I never signed up for any trial, yet I need to enter a security code every time I login.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I also wonder if your AFF Verified status is causing an issue. It needs to login as well...

I am getting them but only when I try to log in and I'm not that enamoured with it - would prefer stronger passwords or texts when you are trying to do something not just logging in

Yikes! It sounds like those AwardWallet things are tripping up on two-factor auth.

"testing in production" - that phrase sends shivers down my spine. I hope that was "fake news"

(I think the idea of the AFF verified status thing is probably closer to the mark)

A trial effectively is testing in production

to me a trial involves invited participation (eg: a beta test or similar)

eg the QF staff flight to test the new wifi a few weeks ago.

Using customers, unaware of any trial, to test something new (like this) would be poor to me. Not that I think that's what is happening here. Just a general comment based on the quote from one QF agent.

I'm a professional system tester, and I think this is highly unprofessional and doesn't reflect well on Qantas.

Production testing lost favour in the 1980's.

Is QF still 'experimenting' with these verifications? Just rec'd a QF sms verification code unsolicited. Reading back, I can't see the point in phoning them and my account seems fine.

I know of a few (including myself) who were forced to change their PINS last week. Required 2FA to enable login.

serfy, What method did the 'force' take, I can still get in with only a 4 digit pin. I suppose I could just change it and be done with it. It's just that I like that pin. :)

My PIN was "invalid", after several goes, my account was 'locked' and required an SMS to reset PIN. The reset process would not let me re-use my old PIN.

This happened to me, though I was locked out instantly with a message that my PIN had been entered incorrectly too many times. Easily changed but annoying. I deleted a (practically useless) travel app that was able to access my QF account, as I thought this may have been the culprit. Seemingly not.
