Boarded hoping for red beep nothing
Stepped in to J and showed FA eBoarding pass
"um we actually have you in First Class today Mr VBAP.. Are you happy to take the stairs down?"

Double check oh seat is now 5F...

Later chat with CSM she recalled "Processing my order" to put through my upgrade

Didn't get any SMS but happy with the result

Agree on T-7 days notice.

Don't the DFW flights often have to leave seats empty to make the distance? (at least in the return direction)

From what I read it was ~100 seats blocked, however it was a fairly standard flight time (16:40) and another colleague down the back in Y suggested it was much the same as on the flight over. I do know that W was completely full on the Friday flight a few days out.

This will be only my 2nd time flying QF.
On QF51 BNE-SIN right now, applied and cleared during flight, trying to figure out how I got cleared as Bronze. Maybe everyone with status is flying QF2 later today?

Quite happy to have a J seat in the middle of a long itinerary: MEL-BNE-SIN-SYD-AKL around 30 odd hours.

Congratulations. February is one of the best times of the year for looking for upgrades, even more so for Bronze members as there are highly likely going to be fewer upgrade requests using points from other travellers. Not school holidays and winter in the Northern Hemisphere.
