Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

They will likely want to wait until you are in the air and have certainty on your LAX arrival time before rebooking

I ended up being rebooked onto an Alaskan flight with a 3.5 hour layover in LAX. Does/should Qantas re-accommodate onto non-Oneworld partners in these cases? There was a Delta flight with a shorter layover, but the Qantas staff member at baggage transfer in LAX said she couldn't do it.

The rebooking was pretty poorly handled - SYD F lounge told me cabin crew would advise details of my new flight, cabin crew told me there would be someone waiting in the aerobridge at LAX, pilot told us to check our apps, Qantas staff waiting at baggage claim told us to speak to staff at baggage transfer. There was a single Qantas staff member at LAX baggage transfer who was clearly frazzled and couldn't help much. LAX F lounge similarly couldn't help. Perhaps the question to ask is, who should/could have helped in this situation?

Upgrade from Flexible Economy to Business on todays QF12 at T-25 as WP. Surprised by the late notification given loads were showing J9 C9 D9 I9. Now showing I0, but plenty of seats in other fare classes.

Once again just waiting for the inevitable delay or cancellation.

20/08 QF158 AKL-MEL P1 flexY-J at T-12. Was showing J0 so must have had a few switch to the earlier flight. Escorts on both arrival and departure.

Discount J to F on 01Sep2025 QF11 (SYD-LAX).
Requested as a WP and received notification at T-19 or so (I had already checked in and thought it wouldn’t go through).

Excellent flight! The FAs really went all out.

Ahh, probably explains why Y went from being reasonably quiet to suddenly full.

Bulkhead PE and a few hours in the SYD Flounge should make it enjoyable enough
