Qantas unveils the biggest changes to status in program history

Yes, they say this, as you point out:

View attachment 519334

but then they say this in the program change Rollover Q&A

Platinum: 50% of excess Status Credits earned over 1,400 can be rolled over, up to a maximum of 500

I assume those who have membership years before the changes to status credit retain targets come into effect will be rolling over from 1,200, just for that year.
Clear as mud @RooFlyer 🤣
Why don't they just say, from "Month" new SC tiered retain starts 🤦‍♀️?

My new year starts 1/Dec/2026. If I can get 350000points within 7 days, should I be able to get another year of points club? puzzled.

I have a similar dilemma
Year end Oct
Credit card sign up bonus that could either get me to PC+ this year (so 1100 retain) or enough toward PC by December depending when I trigger the spend
I already have the QF Plat MC and the NAB QF Signature Visa
Really value the CR points earn feature
Hopefully will be clearer before I have to decide

Speculation it will be Qantas Money either the $1200 pa Titanium card or the $399 pa Platinum card.
Unless it's a typo, they specifically say it's one card ("a select Qantas Points-earning credit card"), and I think I'd be forgiven for assuming this would be their own top-tier card; the $1,200 QF Money Premier Titanium. That said, it's not very accessible to the masses with that fee, so possibly it will be the Platinum grade one, below it.
I hope it's the Platinum, I'll consider signing up. If it's the Titanium, it's too high (especially as I've also got the Amex Platinum) and the income requirements are onerous.
That would be the presumption, but with the RBA changes to interchange fee rules from 1 October and providers of Visa and Mastercard credit cards cutting back benefits as a result, I also wouldn't rule out one of the Amex cards, perhaps the Amex Qantas Ultimate...
Will be interesting to watch. If it ends up being the Amex QANTAS Ultimate, then that's the best scenario for me.

Provided the annual fee and minimum credit limit are not too bad I may consider getting the card once out of the exclusion period. Then again I might just push for LTG and then stop caring about maintaining status as they have made it more expensive to maintain status despite still neglecting MEL for international flights compared with SYD.

I assume the point they were trying to make was the unfairness of the deadline - that Qantas has made it almost impossible for people with November / December membership anniversaries to keep PC/PC+ into 2028.
