Qantas unveils the biggest changes to status in program history

You would hope they don't make any "effective immediately" announcements, but I don't think there are any minimum notice period rules or consumer regulations in Australia for loyalty program changes.

QFF T&Cs requires at least 3 months notice of material changes.
Many would say there is precedent for QF not doing so, however - eg last years changes to lounge guesting rules

Well, they've already given notice that the changes are coming but just haven't specified the date of the changes. Whether this meets the requirements of the T&Cs is an interesting question.
I dont think that counts - although that might be one for the lawyers. It definitely doesn't pass the pub test and given Qantas still has a PR image problem, they probably don't want to give a huge negative PR piece to all the news site to run for the next round of Qantas bashing. Perhaps they're trying to engineers some more sweeteners based on the initial responses to the changes.

If that is the case I would think they may give at least a few months notice of the actual dates, but we will find out soon.
I think they already announced the expected implementation dates for most of their initiatives, which I hope next week will give us an update.

I am concerned about for any changes that would be confirmed next week if any of them needs 3 months official notice, it will go too close to the end of Semester 2 and December holidays, where millions on International students and Australian family need to be out of the country.

I hope there won't be any chaos by then?

Also initiatives such as earning Status Credits on the ground, I really think they need to brought forward because summer and Christmas booking is happening soon, perhaps they really need some incentives to boost bookings via Qantas.com?

My membership year ended July 31 and I was able to roll over 100SC from PC+, plus the 50SC Loyalty Bonus which I sat on before activating in early August. It does show 1050SC needed to retain Platinum before July 31 2027 so I fully expect any changes to the SC required for retaining Platinum would be effective from 1 August 2027.

If they do it during an active membership year, I'd expect them to credit the FF account with the additional SC needed to prevent mass negativity. For example under the changes, to retain Platinum 1400SC are required, if they made this come in to effect during a membership year, they should credit existing Platinum members with an additional 200SC, given when the membership year started the retain number was 1200SC. This would be a logical and fair method, not that Qantas always acts in a logical and fair manner but time will tell.

I'm not really sure what you're trying to suggest here but traditionally Christmas and summer holidays are the 'high season' for bookings where Qantas has no problem filling their seats at high prices.

Have just requalified for PC+ (membership year ends in January 2027).

Per the QF FAQ on the changes,

"Members who successfully attain or retain Points Club or Points Club Plus before the retirement date will continue to enjoy the benefits in their current Membership year and until the end of their next Membership Year."

Based on the above, I will retain PC+ until January 2028 (the end of my next membership year). When my current membership year ends, I should still receive the current 100 SC rollover in February 2027.

I think we are just waiting for QFF to confirm the “retirement date” and how much notice they’ll provide for that date?
