Qantas unveils the biggest changes to status in program history

Membership year ends in February, so for me I was tracking towards Points Club by then based on spend, but now no point worrying about it.

Already renewed gold for another year so glad to know my now spare status credits will now give me a leg up for next year.

My new Qf membership starts 1 Nov. 2026. To renew Plat, would I need 1200 or 1400 SCs? Would be good to know now with the dble SCs offer currently ...

Given that the first change of any is Dec 7, I think you'll be on 1200 to retain in November.

…and for those of us with anniversary dates prior to 8 Dec 2026, I assume that means:
a) 1200 SC to retain WP (not 1400)?
b) no excess SC rollover this membership year (first SC rollover will be in first full membership year after 8 Dec 2026, i.e., anniversary date in 2027)?

Interesting. My year ends in January but will have 1200 status credits by November/December so hopefully the old requirement will apply still.
I wonder how hard it will be to get the credit card which earns status credits especially for retirees?

The press release says
“The remaining status updates will roll out in early 2027, including the removal of separate attain and retain requirements, new Silver tier benefits, and Lifetime milestones.”

So presumably you’ll still be fine even for January. Though my guess would be the updated retain requirements will apply for the next membership year rather than the one you’re currently in.

My membership year ends in 5 days. I had been planning on a worst case scenario of points club being ended in September after the results announcement, and that from September the membership commencements under only the attain rate threshold would also apply, so it looks like somewhat of a let off for me. Will assume a 1,200 SC retention for my 2026-27 membership year, which should start with 100 SCs from PC+ and 50 SCs from GT. 2027-28 might be when I start to look more frequently at B[J]FOD!

Cheers,
Matt.

That would be my interpretation.

I was wondering that myself...

Does anyone know what "bank" this CC will be with?
Unless it's a typo, they specifically say it's one card ("a select Qantas Points-earning credit card"), and I think I'd be forgiven for assuming this would be their own top-tier card; the $1,200 QF Money Premier Titanium. That said, it's not very accessible to the masses with that fee, so possibly it will be the Platinum grade one, below it.
