so we now know some of the answers to long-standing questions, including:

• Premium Economy to be rolled into 747 fleet
• A380 uper deck will be Business and Premium Economy, with First and Economy on main deck
• Business class gets fully flat beds

and many more of course.

At last....they reveal it.

I left Qantas in July '06 and this was the program I was fortunate to be working on, although up until now I have had to remain quiet as to the product offering.

The First Class Suites are pure luxury, beautifully finished and with no compromise on the materials and finish. I previously worked for Aston Martin in the UK, so know the difference between what is a excellent and what is not. The new Skybed will again set the standard, whilst the economy seat will be the most comfortable and spacious in its class. It is STILL an economy seat though, so don't raise those expectations too much!

Marc Newson has done a brilliant job designing the interior of this a/c.

At last, a good news story for Qantas...they have taken a hammering in the press recently over the last few months!

The PDF document in the original post says that 747's will be flying with Premium Economy in Feb 08, but it doesn't seem to be on the web yet. Interested to get a feeling for the pricing.

I am also interested in Y+ pricing as my employer wont pay for J travel but may spring for Y+ - providing there isn't too much of a differential.

My original concern was a statement by QF that Y+ would be priced slightly above a full economy fare (which is pretty expensive to start with) but realistically they would need to stay competitve with other carriers with similar cabins.

I wonder how USB/RJ45 ports may be utilised?

Laptop power and free WiFi (via RJ45 port) in Y sounds very good. Pity it is so damn hard to try and work with the laptop in Y due to small seat pitch.

I haven't seen anything in any of these reports about increased seat pitch in Y on the A380, so assume we are stuck with current 744 configuration?

Seat pitch still the same...the need to cram them in is as important as ever.

The seat though has this clever articulated recline, which means you do not encrouch into the space of the passenger that sits behind you as much., whilst still acheiving the same angle of recline.

Tricky to explain, but ingenius!
