I've received 4 emails like this one from Qantas in the past 2 days:

I hadn't received an email like this before, so after getting the first one (and verifying that it was indeed from Qantas), I changed the PIN on my frequent flyer account. But since then I've received 3 more emails, and I'm convinced there's nothing suspicious happening with my account. One came through when Award Wallet did an account update, and the rest were all me. (I'm away from home so maybe it thinks it's suspicious that I'm logging in from a new IP address - although I did enter the 2FA code without issue when logging in.)

My question is - are these alerts a new thing? And is anyone else getting bombarded with alerts for activity that's not really that suspicious?

I can understand why these emails might be useful, but if I keep getting them several times per day I'm going to just start ignoring them.

If Red Roo hadn’t been euthanised, this could have been cleared up pretty quickly. 🤭

I received one yesterday but that was because Qantas was the reason for the suspicious activity.Logged into my accoun tand realised I wasn't going to get an SMS on Norfolk Island so changed to email me a code.
QF responded with 3 emails all with a different code. The last one I tried worked naturally.

What's the Sender's email address?

This was the first thing I checked.

It's [email protected]

I have been received these twice of the last three days.

Inidictive from somewhere in Virginia USA.

Both coincided time wise with Award Wallet data retrieval.

The one for me that coincided with an Award Wallet data retrieval also showed "VA, United States" as the location.

Haven't received any myself, but it's good to see a continued focus on account security from Qantas. Maybe one day this decade we'll be able to set a password more complex than four numbers.

It would be a heck of a lot more useful if they also provided the IP address of the login attempt.

For a few of us yes, but to be fair it would be meaningless to the vast majority of QFF members. There's probably a lot of overlap between those who'd benefit from knowing the origin IP address of a login request, and those who can easily spot phishing emails, etc.

Except there is zero harm and zero cost in providing it, so why not?

I also received that email yesterday, 1st time ever. Stated "Location NSW"... I'm in Noosa. But I've been using a vpn as I'm on hotel WiFi.

Well I've received 2 more of these alerts since I started this thread last night. Is there something wrong with my account, or is this just overkill? It's really starting to annoy me, and there's no way to opt out of the emails.

I have also received 4 in the last few days. All from a MAC OS located in USA

Do you use Award Wallet? I got the email when Award Wallet refreshes my QF account, at least QF is better than Air NZ, which blocked Award Wallet altogether.

I regularly get an SMS with a verification code from Qantas, which they send out sometimes when trying to log in to QFF.

Mine are associated with Awardwallet updates. I am receiving them at least daily and sometimes twice daily. It is overkill as I won't check each one and that could be when I am really being hacked.

I (think I) disabled Award Wallet auto-updates but still got another one from a location in VA, United States. Weird.
