re previous address... the guy who called me seemed quite happy to accept a partial match - as in I got the street name out from memory and he accepted that rather than worrying about the exact apartment/street number of the place I was at 16 years ago. That was a bit curious.

I'd also declared extra income that was non wages income and on top of that dividend/inestment type income... the funny thing was when he called and asked me about it I had a total brain wipe and couldn't recall what exactly each amount was for - and honestly if I was on the other end of the phone it would have set off a bit of a flag for me that this guy doesn't remember what this money is a few days after the application??? (I've been unwell and on meds etc by way of partial explanation :) ) anyway he just decided to ignore all of that in the end and based the application on my payslips alone as it was well above the card minimum requirement anyway.

my conclusion is that while this worked out for me (still waiting on the card to arrive though!) I don't know... if I'd talked to me to verify stuff and was that vague on stuff I'd put in on an application I'd probably want to verify MORE rather than less.

I suppose a funny example of the weirdness that is Citi.
 
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding credit scores then. I thought the lower it is, the less likely you are to be approved for credit?

Yes lower = less likely. But I also don't understand some peoples obsession with their 'score', especially some people in the Whirlpool forums..

I'm starting to wonder if your score actually matters much either. Since August last year, I've successfully applied for 5 CCs and was knocked back for 2. And I was still approved for this Qantas Premier card earlier this month. Clearly my bonus chasing hasn't hurt my credit score that much.

I've been accepted for all the cards I've applied for this year..... I've just had to cut up my ANZ Black though. I'm thinking my Macq Black will be a keeper for my Visa 1:1 purchases - great app, great online banking page, love their instant purchase notifications to my phone (especially when you've just bought something from "Fred's Seafoods" and the notification tells you the purchase is from " Canopy Number Seven Enterprises P/L" - I would never remember in a month's time who that was when reading my statement :shock:!). Everything else will get the shears at 11 months.

OK - so my number of applications has massively increased since finding this forum. I don't really consider my score as much, and aim for a new application every couple of months - so far no issues and I've seen plenty of posters exceed that confidently.

Data point I'm not so sure on is total available credit - I'd prefer to keep a couple of cards I hold and that may limit what I apply for in the future (including this card). An example - 2 cards I hold currently have a minimum limit of $15k each plus a couple of smaller ones, which means I have a (in my opinion) high amount of available credit and need to get rid of one of these high ones before new applications.

My question is what levels of credit to income do other credit card enthusiasts carry and still win new approvals? 30% of annual income? Higher? I'm trying to gauge a yardstick to help decide when I need to cull cards or limit applications...
 
My card arrived today. Activation was easy and worked as expected. I made a payment and that went through fine.

Changing direct debits for a few places have been OK with the exception of Telstra who seem to throw up an error claiming the financial institution "declined" the request which seems odd... but I'll try again tomorrow and see.

Other than that, seems fine
 
Applied for this card and was approved 8/6. Email said I'll receive it within 3 days. Nothing has appeared so I rang Qantas Card.
They confirmed that the card was sent on 9/6 to "8 Melbourne". Oops, looks like the the system lost the street name and half the suburb.
My card finally arrived yesterday - just in an envelope stuck to a standard "here's your card" letter - no financial table, no T&Cs, etc.
I went online and it activated ok.
Mrs C applied for the QF card on 30/6 and also received it yesterday - full welcome letter, financial table, T&Cs, colour brochure - the works.
BUT..... it wouldn't activate ("your details don't match") :shock:. She rang the Phillipines this morning and after 30 minutes faffing around checking everything in her QFF profile, they said try again and it activated ok. Huh?

So the card application/receipt/activation process seems to have a few variables.

OTOH, we both applied for Westpac Altitude Black last week and cards were ready within 48 hours of approval (which only took 12 hours for both of us). Completely seamless by comparison.

As did mine - I applied 24th June, phone call and approval text 27th June, card arrived 7 days later and has activated without issue.
I got 2 pieces of paper and a colour brochure ;)

I had the same problem when I updated my details and when I called to investigate Qantas Money (Citibank) took it upon themselves to block the merchant because they thought that a $1 pre-authorisation was a suspicious transaction.
They went through and lifted the block on each of them but I am worrying going overseas in coming weeks given they are so jumpy at blocking 'unusual transactions'.

The app and online account details have almost no features to manage account and the balance displayed is inaccurate.

I just received my 2 complimentary lounge invites via link in an email. That was quick.

That's crazy. Telstra is a major merchant, specially for Australians... Heavens... if it was Crazy Joe's Dodgy Mobile Phone co then sure, be a bit suss, but this would affect lots.

I wonder if making a regular payment by Telstra for a bill, then having established that payment method, would go through without having to deal with citi. garg!

and yes in terms of blocks on pre-auths and the like for small amounts - this can be common with hotels and the like. I also gave to a charity recently who did a pre-auth of $1 on the card too (an Amex, not this one) so it's quite common.. fair enough in these days too I should think.

Mine seem accurate so far, though for a few hours this afternoon everything was "unavailable" which was a bit concerning...
 
Seems like this could be a painful ongoing issue then. grr
 
Has anyone had any luck finding out when the additional card holder option will become available?
I was on hold for 5 minutes today before I had to hang up about something else.

Having this and the Westpac Black between the better half and I is going to come in incredibly handy with accumulating points.

It seems that Qantas always wants to expand their buisness, but credit cards are just more ways for them to make you spend more with them and get all of these useless rewards or whatever.

Bazzi just relax as this is Citi at their finest. I think you would enjoy that play now.
I spent a dozen years involved in theatre and "Waiting for Godot" was special.

After not hearing back from local Citibank rep within time frame promised, rang the number provided last week - now disconnected. Had to send a search party out via the offshore call centre for the rep to contact me - he rang within 5 minutes. Income stream still in dispute despite documentation supporting its legitimacy. After further consultation (with upstairs) he rang back and said they would need 2 years of tax returns (which they already had) to support my rental income. When I asked what the issue was he said it was because the rental income was paid into an account not with my name/company name on it but my husband's name! I pulled the plug then and there. Why? I don't have a husband!

I think he was a tad more than slightly embarrassed. He offered to reinstate my Citi Plat with some bonus points but I said 'I'm done!'. I made a firm commitment to both him (any myself) to never, ever apply for another Citibank product!

I also suggested he google the card and see the problems people are encountering and he said that as a complaints manager he was acutely aware!

Welcome sneaky. .... 60,000 points, and one point per dollar spent, is not really useless. Maybe you should apply and reap some of those rewards. :p
