Up and running now - quite amusing that the qantas money app automatically classes my local hotel/pub as 'travel' spend

Speaking of this... Does anyone know WHY? It seems weird to me... Doesn't Visa still get the money?

Interchange fees can be different based on the category of merchant.

https://www.visa.com.au/about-visa/interchange.html

My understanding from that page is that if you're government/utility/insurance etc that has a special rate there, you won't be subject to the premium/super premium rates that regular merchants have to pay for Visa Platinum/Signature.

For those interested, this card requires you to entire the one time PIN sent as an SMS every time you login.
A bit annoying and slightly different to "normal" Citibank where you can login just with your password and are often (not always) required to entire the one time PIN if you want to access account transaction details or statements. So just to see the balance, you need the PIN for this card.
Potentially a big issue if you are in an area with no mobile phone service/roaming etc.

The phone app does not require this, you can setup a PIN to login to the app and do not need one time sms.

Applied for this card and was approved 8/6. Email said I'll receive it within 3 days. Nothing has appeared so I rang Qantas Card.

They confirmed that the card was sent on 9/6 to "8 Melbourne". Oops, looks like the the system lost the street name and half the suburb.
A bit of a nuisance as I have ~12k of bills I'd like to pay before 30 June.

"Let's try that again.... without the oops". (with apologies to Jeff Goldblum Independence Day)

Made my Partner sign up to this card (honeymoon on ff pts FTW!)

I can't get another card with Citi(long story, but looking for the next best for Bonus points for me to apply for... any suggestions?)

I had not told him about how painful the process was fearing he would not apply.

But it was relatively painless.

Yes they called and asked a few questions (I am wondering if it is to actually verify your identify in the world of identity theft - you could imagine someone getting very frustrated if they were stealing your identity).

They pretty much approved him immediately after that phone.

Seems they didn't need to verify with his employer (I was worried about that as its a small company and not great at returning phone calls)

I know other people who earn 3 times what my partner earns and they had to get verified! Must be random!

I would love it if he got his card before this Friday as rego would be a huge chunk of the $3k - well see.

I got the card within 2 weeks from the day of the application, I had two citi cards, visa signature with Qantas which also got 2 free int lounge passes from Priority pass and MC used rarely . Had 62K joint limit and citi asked me if I want to change MC limits which I did and passed 85% of citi MC to new Qantas MC.
I was told partner card is not yet ready but will take at least a month to get it organised.

Well my experience has been pretty pain free so far.

I applied end of last week, got a call today (they missed me yesterday) asking to confirm the street name of a previous address (as others have been asked) and to verify my income from the payslips I already submitted(no, I did not have to email!) I also had declared extra income that I get from non work related sources but the guy said "Well the minimum income requirement for this card is $35k and your income is well above that so is it OK to use that for the application?" so sure I say. He says thank you. expect a response in a few days. 5 minutes later email confirming I am approved.

so yeah... pretty easy for me (so far!)

In my case, I got the same question, but with an added bit that they don't take penalty rates into account. However, I said "No, I don't want my base salary to be used. I need you to use my stated salary, as shown on the pay slips (penalty rates add quite a lot), so please speak with my payroll (which I had already authorised them to do)". So I hang up, and almost immediately, the approval came through by SMS. Card approved for the requested $20,000. Go figure ....

Spent the $3K today. Now we'll see how long it takes for the sign up bonus to arrive. :)

We both received our new cards yesterday. I don't think I will miss Ahmed Fahour and the snail mail he developed so beautifully.

I am having some issues making payments with this card - 2 different vendors online in the last 24 hours.

The first one I selected Master Card from their drop down list of card types and got 'Error with Card Type' on submitting the form. With the next one the error was a bit more informative...'Card number range not supported'. So I assume that Qantas Money has a new range of numbers for this card (starting 5268 ??) and that these are being rejected by some vendors or payment gateways against their known database.

What error does it give when you try to PayPal something with it? You may get similar issues when cards haven't been activated properly.

I haven't tried yet. I have added it to my PP account without any complaint.

But the card has been successfully used for a dozen other transactions. QM has no record of the attempted payments because the payment gateway has not even attempted to take payment because it does not believe it is a valid Master Card.

This was one of them: https://www.sagepay.co.uk/support/error-codes/4021-card-range-not-supported-system

This is probably the most relevant part:

Sage Pay receive updated card ranges regularly that are added to our systems for mainstream card types - if the card being used for the transaction falls into this category it will be updated when the new ranges are provided to Sage Pay by the card issuers.
