Same here - applied 3 months later (ie a few weeks ago) and got it - this time with more bonus points

I went back again after I binned the virgin card and the site wouldn't accept my details on the first page.

I guess I'll try again in a couple of months.

Applied for this card around 5 months ago but was declined after checking the credit file. Decided to apply again tonight and progressed to the upload payslip section (woot!), successfully uploaded the payslips. So now the application is in review stage, based on your experiences, how soon should I expect the interrogation phone call, if at all? And based on your experiences, has your application been declined after the phone call? (Relying on the approved as the bonus points will significantly contribute towards my 420k OWA fare, so hoping for no issues)

No Citibank call today, the check application progress screen is still on the review application step but has adjusted in removing the "upload documents" step, the screen which I saw in my previous application, I suspect I've been declined after the review :(. I'm guessing if no phone call tomorrow it will definitely been declined.

EDIT: i called the automated 24/7 line and confirmed I've been declined. Oh well, time to sit out the churn/burn game for 3-4 months.

Just a note to say no issues with using this card domestically and just recently in the US. Yeah, I was surprised :)

Denied.

Of course, online my application still shows as under review but I would expect that from the clowns at Citibank.

Signed up for the Qantas card in September. Last week we received a cheque in the mail from Citibank for $200.00. No doco, explanation - nothing except for the description Convenience cheque / balance transfer.

We didn't request a balance transfer as we pay off the cards every month, and I'm sure Citibank is not playing Father Christmas and giving us $200 for nothing. Emailed them and of course have had no reply.

Anyone else receive one of these?

Out of curiosity, how many applications in the last 6/12 months?

At a guess I would say three, possibly four, but I really don't know.

The thing that totally irks me with the credit system in Australia is how one-sided it is. I got my first credit card - a Gold ANZ card (back when Gold was the duck's nuts) - almost two decades ago. The application asked 'Value of your home'. Well, the value of my home was over $600k. I didn't own my own home, but that's not what the question asked.

Anyway, fast forward to today and I've cycled through cards steadily (although not to the extent as some on here, I don't think). In that almost 20 years, I've paid a grand total of $7.80 in late payment fees and interest. And that resulted from one single event on a David Jones Amex card that I completely forgot about. I've never viewed a credit card as a source of credit but a source of frequent flyer points. I pay the card off daily. In fact, most of the time it's on the way back to the car after leaving the supermarket and it's often done before the merchant has even levied the charge. But I suspect banks don't see that.

Couldn't agree more, I'm in the same boat. Have always paid off credit card in full, never defaulted on any other payment, and have a very solid income, yet in the past few months "I don't met the criteria". Admittedly I have churned about 3-4 in the past year, so maybe some banks getting a little more clued onto that and declining people if they notice that trend.

I received a curious email from Qantas Money. I assume someone else asked about it in the last 37 pages but I couldn't find it (sorry):

You were recently approved for a Qantas Premier Platinum credit card with an offer of 75,000 bonus Qantas Points if you spend $3,000 in the first 90 days from account approval.

You'll receive a credit of 15,000 bonus Qantas Points on your next statement.

Then, if you spend more than $3,000 within the first 90 days of approval, you'll receive 60,000 bonus Qantas Points in the following statement cycle.

I've spent ~ $4,500 in the first payment cycle – none government, etc. so it should all be eligible. Are they saying you spend $3,000 you get 15k points, but if you spend $3,001+ you get the other 60k as well?

If I spend it all in the first statement, will I get them all at once? I just don't get what it's saying.

Cheers.

Hi Liamg,
I received the same email. I have spent the required amount in the first payment cycle. However I have been credited with the 60,000 points and the points ( 3565) for my dollars spent (e.g. $3565), these have already been posted in my QFF account.
No sign of the other 15000 points. I don't know whether to wait or contact them.

Has anybody else received points on DEFT payments?

Assume it would count towards the minimum spend for the bonus points regardless of whether standard points can be earnt.

Thought I would log into the account, just to check that I hadn't missed any payments or fees, its been a month since I have used the card.

Why do I have to re-enter a pin number to view the statement, I have already logged in.

What this card has going for it is a 55 interest free period.

My experience with Citibank is that they can't cope with anything in your application that is even ever so slightly outside the ordinary re income, no matter how far above the minimum you may be.

I applied again a couple of days ago and got a call earlier today. The offshore call centre girl wanted me to provide my address in 2007 and my address in 1998! I asked why and how Citibank has that information anyway and he said it's to Citibank's policy, to verify that it's a legitimate application and that he was referencing my address details from some kind of banks database. She also asked me what other credit enquiries I have made. Before I could say "I'm going to need to charge my phone because this is going to take some time" she said "Just the names of the banks will be fine". This is the first time, with Citibank or any bank that I've been asked for this sort of detail.

Has anyone used this card to purchase QF flights in overseas currency?

Long Story: So my companies travel agent is US based so transactions are in USD. The charge will come from QF so its ideal for them to just charge my Qantas Premier Platinum card. 1.5 points for international transaction & 1 point for Qantas. so 2.5 points per dollar. Plus the 3% conversion fee.

Previously i used my ANZ Black card. Later found out that their terms state that bonus points transaction need to be earned in Australia. So a QF transaction processed in the US doesnt get bonus points. So im hoping this card works.
https://assets.qantasmoney.com/legals/qmoney/documents/Premier_Reward_Terms.pdf doesnt really say much about if it needs to be AU based to earn bonus point. So im hoping for yes.

Anyone with insight would be awesome.

I have and yes, can confirm you do get 1.5 points per dollar for overseas currency and 1 bonus point per dollar for QF spend.
On my QFF statement it has different categories of "QANTAS PREMIER INTERNATIONAL", "QANTAS PREMIER QANTAS SPEND" and "QANTAS PREMIER DOMESTIC".
Haven't got my cc statement in front of me so I can't recall if the cc statement breaks it down like that.

The overseas exchange rate and fees are way too high for us to use this when we are in the US. Might be about as ordinary as Qantas Money.

The 3% fee is actually quite standard for most credit cards.
