I thought it was odd situation recently, when Jetstar (JQ) announced that it was going to start flying against 3K on Jakarta/Denpasar to Singapore routes. (Using Perth based aircraft.)

The flights are just extensions of the Perth to Jakarta/Denpasar flights, so may be the demand was there for an extra flight and the capacity was available from oz. Only thing I can think of for why they would do it.,

now if only they started to fly JQ SYD - SIN and let you seamlessly book to other destinations Jetstar Asa / Valuair they might have a chance.

Or actually had seamless connections in SIN to and from the QF network. Now that would widen the passenger base considerably.

dajo

very good point. would be great to ue the multi trip function on QF to book around asia.

i suppose the airlines and banks both have to battle with 1960s era systems.

i used to work for SITA and the lengths to which the airlines were going to keep running their old systems was amazing.

Bear in mind that Jetstar is basically an LCC that has had some features added back. Flight connectivity is one of those things that LCC's tend to throw out in keeping costs down. There have been some improvements with JQ starting to interline to an extent.
