Qantas to finally move to main Perth Airport hub

The impending announcement, revealed by Radio 6PR, has been held up while the Department of Home Affairs finalises passenger screening arrangements.
The long-running dispute between the airport and Qantas has been resolved, with both parties aiming to be operating by 2030, five years later than the original plan.
Just six months ago, the Australian Financial Review reported Qantas was resisting pressure from the airport and government to make the move.

Once the deal is finalised, it is understood additional international direct flights connecting Perth with Jakarta and Johannesburg will be able to take off immediately, well ahead of Qantas’ new facilities.

Qantas’ extensive business servicing the state’s mining sector may remain at the general aviation terminal near Terminals 3 and 4.
