Qantas thanks its most loyal customers

Re: Qantas 4 flights minimum

But them's the breaks... if you're in a (business) alliance - you win some you lose some.

Well, you should try harder - all the service providers you mention reward my loyalty!

My best rewards are discounts off rack rate; be it for bundling multiple communications products with the same supplier or signing a fixed term supply contract with another.

If you are loyal to you utilities, and don't get anything (or enough) for it, well… I’m sure there’s a word for that!

Happy to be enlighten!

With the other examples I've mentioned they all compete on price & thats about it - all business do that including QF.....IMO, thats not a reward for loyalty it's just business decision that gets offered to all & sundry !!

If my electricity provider offered a scheme where every 6th or 8th bill was free....I'd say that's a reward.

Pricing structures - do not make a decent loyalty reward program.

another lowly bronze without an email

a bit frustrating given i'll be silver within the week

:D Obviously many businesses out there comprehensively disagree with that statement.

Big difference between the "plain vanilla" competition for business & actively pitching for repeat business - otherwise no business would offer reward programs :D

Given your stated bio for FF programs - I'd say, you agree

There are many ways to pitch for repeat/increased business, and pricing mechanisms are one of the most common. They are by no means the exclusive way to do so.

Using alternative offers to pitch for repeat/increased business are also valuable, often meaning a company (like Qantas) can spend proportionally less on discounting or other dollar based mechanisms. (Different businesses mix it up in different ways.)

Simple stuff really. Even Jetstar isn't "plain vanilla" :D

Got a flight to PRG via LHR in December. It's on BA metal but QF flight number on my booking as its a codeshare. Anyone know if i'll get the 50% points bonus even thought its BA operating but QF flight number?

Should be fine, so long as its a QF flight number.

No email for me :(

This bronze didn't get invited to the party!

Me neither, despite a flight to the US recently where my return flights got stuffed, resulting in a miserable 30-ish hours.

Really, this thread should be titled "Qantas rewards its frequent flyers", as loyalty doesnt really come into it. I only fly Qantas/Jetstar (hence loyal), but don't fly very often...

So long as my clients pay for my work flights while I enjoy the benefits of the FF scheme I am happy with QF having higher prices and better rewards ;)

Score! While more SC are always nice, I'm pretty happy.

I have several domestics and a J SYD-LHR in the next few weeks. Thanks Qantas.

Why not the 16th Dec and make it 1 month?

FFS people, it's a better points offer than yesterday. Enjoy! Stop cough1ng!

However, coughing can be therapeutic. If the therapy is defined as a process that makes a person feel better, then coughing is therapeutic if you feel good after that ;)

I'd be calling to check, could have a wrong email, you don't know til you call

Unfortunately the stuff-up wasnt due to the shut down, otherwise I would...the A330 got held up in NZ (maybe a maintenance issue?) Eitherway, Ive pushed my planned trip from next month back to January anyway, so no loss....though something to make up for the massive phone bill would have been nice.

No email here still - always very for me to get emails generally ...

Hi Simongr,

You did not receive an email as you have 'opted out' from receiving 'Frequent Flyer exclusive offers.' This is usually the way to find out about bonus points and status credits so perhaps log-in to your account on qantas.com and update this. Feel free to pass this tip onto any other members who are Silver or above that did not receive an email yesterday.

As a Platinum you are eligible for the Double Bonus Points offer. ;)

Cheers,
Red Roo

Maybe because we have international flights booked and paid for in December we have been selected out of the "selected bronze members to get this deal". The QF definition of loyal may be different to ours?:(

Add another few to this camp. No e-mails but travel booked up.

Is Qantas doing this to reward loyal customers, or are they are doing this tobuild confidence in their core clientele. Moot ppint, I think they missed the mark .
Perhaps they should have just offered double SCs cart blanche to all? Only flights booked from now until 23 December would be eligible? Unfortunately that is not going to build confidence either and is most definitely not going to do anything for loyalty.

Perhaps Qantas should have done nothing as they are going to miss the mark with any offer.

Question: Who is more loyal towards Qantas...? Jim or Joe...?
And then there is John who commutes 35 times a year SYD-BNE with ~80% flights on Qantas. During those 35 return trips he endures a lot of inconvenience yet continues to be loyal.

Is he more loyal? I don't know but at least with this promotion he is rewarded for his loyalty.

Yes he is also loyal, more loyal though, I'm not so sure

Anyway discussion in this direction proves / confirms the point made earlier in this thread, he gets one since he is clearly more profitable to Qantas...

Loyalty not relevant for these targeted offers period...

This offer will net me an additional 96,000 points, which I will gratefully take and put towards a JASA next year.

The promise of priority boarding has removed one of my reasons for diverting domestic travel to VA.

Where I am concerned the additional points will be useful, but they will not change my opinion of QF, nor will they change my current booking strategy. So with me QF is not getting a lot back.

Whilst it didn't affect me the removal of priority check in for QP members was poor, and I note that it has been reinstated. What would mean more to me is someone senior at QF sticking their hand up and saying "we got it wrong, sorry." It would give a lot more credibility in my eyes instead of sneaking it back in. (Same with the baggage policy that affected SG's)

QF needs to earn my respect back if it wants the near 90% of my travel it used to have. Last week I spent $11k with VA/DJ, a year ago it would have gone to QF.

If you really want my business QF then you need treat me like a valued customer. Simple things such as responding to emails, responding in a timely fashion to issues like priority boarding, or LHR BA lounge access mean a lot more than the additional points do to me.

Given I wasn't hurt too badly by the grounding, I appreciate anything that is offered. As expected, 12 months of EpiQure for myself (WP) and 1 x FLounge pass for the other half (SG). The lounge pass is a bit useless given the majority of Intl trips are together...

As luck would have it, my travel has died down for the year (and I'm sure Qantas know this is a year end trend) so the double points will be of no use. Frustratingly, the promo runs 16/11-23/12 and my last flight was 15/11 with the next 24/12!
