Just released at 5pm:

Here’s your chance to take off with savings across the Qantas domestic network. For two hours only, use the promo code TAKEOFF10 when you book your flight and save $10 per passenger on your flight booking. Offer available for one-way or return Qantas operated flights. HURRY, offer ends 7pm AEST 10 June 2021.

Not interested for $10 ...

$10 on 10 June - I'll wait until 30 June for an End of Financial Year sale...

Which marketing genius thought a two hour booking window would be a success?

Most people would need to confirm availability with a travel partner, someone they'd be visiting at the destination, or potentially need to book time off work. Outside of Melbourne, many would also be commuting at this hour.

Given the current climate, almost everyone would be checking accommodation/car hire/tour prices and associated cancellation policies. The days of booking impulsive travel are long gone and won't return for a while I think.

The only travellers I can envisage using this code are those who were ready to book a flight anyway, and in that case, as mentioned above:

Those motivated by a 10AUD on a Qantas flight are probably already flying VA or Rex....

..so Qantas is just giving discounts to those who were going to book Qantas anyway, hence there's no net revenue gain from the promo? The mind boggles.

Whilst this "promotion" is incredibly underwhelming, what is interesting is the use of a promo code. This is the first time I've seen this with Qantas. There's also a new promo code field on the payment screen in the booking flow that I swear has only just been added (unless I'm going crazy).

So this may be a lazy way to test whether new functionality is working properly for very little cost? $10 is about the credit card fee on some domestic flights.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

It's actually a soft launch of a new product offering with the voucher codes.

Correct, it's just been added.
Promo codes in the future will be generic and also targeted.

The codes will be able to be used via the contact centre, QF.com - no stacking either AFAIK.

It’s as if promo codes are this new and rare thing that no one has seen before and requires extensive testing.

Those living and Canberra trying to use ChooseCBR website last week to redeem there coupon code might have a different opinion 😂

Those working in IT might too btw. If this blitz campaign is just a soft launch, I would say good on Qantas.

Looks like we have the first proper use of the Qantas promo code function...

From 5pm today until 5pm tomorrow (17Jun21 to 18Jun21) for travel from 1 July 2021 to 15 June 2022 they are using the promo code TAKEOFF150 to take off $150 on a return flight from AU to AKL/WLG/CHC.

A part of me wonders what's going on because the promo page hasn't been updated... it still says "Search and select your domestic flight" when this is clearly a trans tasman promo.

Likewise, the "Important Information" says:
This offer cannot be used on Jetstar marketed and operated ‘JF’ flights.
Now I didn't know that Jetstar was now using the JF flight code from failed airline Jet Asia Airways.

It seems Qantas may have read the above post, the two typos have been fixed.

In addition the promo has been extended to 20 June 5pm!

Yes, this is a much better promotion. I thought it might be a good way to use up a travel credit and add a bit to it for a cheap J class ticket. However, the fine print says can't be used in conjunction with travel credits amongst other things.
