Qantas SYD&MEL to SIN $510 ret ($410 through .br site)

A few observations from checks today for MEL-SIN:

- EK flights seem to always now be cheaper than QF flights, often substantially;
- Cheapest flight is currently R1,131 (EK flights), or R1,047 with hotel
- Higher flight cost offset by better currency exchange (currently 0.46)
- All up cost ~ A$500

Dont forget the save and come back later trick that brings the flight only cost down below the accommodation trick.

FYI, I booked for September, SYD to BKK (QF metal), HAN to SYD (KA/QF metal) on .br for less than BR$1500 (after the save trick). Best bit is that HAN to SYD is via HKG (QF128, A380) and with a 6.5hr layover in HKG so I can get out and visit HKG for a bit. Even better is that HKG to SYD is booked in S class so it's upgradable!! It also appears that this leg is only available on Saturdays.

I played with other combos to try get HKG fares down, but no luck, maybe others can try.

Thanks for this. Did you book as 2 separate bookings or as a single open jaw ticket?

Thx markis10 and Ansett.

Absolutely nothing other than answering No hadnt made it work but letting others know about the price LHR-MEL. Sorry if that was confusing!

One may also ask what does HKG or PVG got to do with a thread on : Qantas SYD&MEL to SIN $510 ret ($410 through .br site)?

Did Decolar send you this personalised email close to your travel date or soon after Qantas made the schedule change?

I had the same thing happen on exp.br.

For me, It happened a few weeks after booking, but several months before our departure, so I assume it was as soon as they discovered. (Obv not decolar though)

I have been trying to get cheap HKG airfares for a while without luck. In fact the airfares are considerably cheaper on Qantas website.

Yes the HKG fares have a condition only valid for sale in Australia so you required an Aussie point of sale. e.g. Qantas website

Included the cheapest accommodation option for one night and it brings the price down as they cut their booking fee which is quite big, you don't have to use the option.

Does this only work for whY fares? I tried it with a Y+ fare and it didn't seem to work....

Yes, only Y AFAIK, but if you do the save itin trick it should work with all classes?

Thanks markis10, thought that must be the case.

Ahhh, another trick. I must not have picked that one up in my speed-reading of this thread. Is that just a case of hitting the 'save for later', or equivalent, button and then coming back later and retrieving the saved quote and paying?

Pretty much so, give it a few hours.

Fee disappeared after about an hour when I tested it on the weekend.

I've now tested and confirmed this. I also realise that I had inadvertently experienced it before I booked. I couldn't work out what had happened though nor could I recreate it when I went to book the following day. I'm not too bothered as the saving was great anyway, so this would have just been the icing on the cake. I know for next time though.

successfully made Qantas change a booking for me for free due to a flight time change for a flight booked on .br to SIN. Did call .br first but they wouldn't do it because they received no flight time change notification from Qantas. The lady also said QF had now taken over the booking.

About to book below on .br site and price comes up in AUD is this ok
It is in Brazilian Real. It is a poor translation done by a computer. It used to always say British Pound, now it looks like some instances are translated as AUD and some as GBP. Expedia.com.br prices in BRL, irrespective of what the automatic translation says.

I would recommend doing the booking using the original text. All Expedias have the same layout anyway, so you could have Expedia.com.au open in another window to use as a map if you wish.

Agreed! When I was doing some checking last weekend, it came up with a mix of GBP, USD and R on the same page in Google Chrome! Shocking translation!

Thanks for info. Just a bit worried that I may accidently pay in Australian dollars. Probably in the translation – using Chrome.
