Again I ask - who are the people begging for these non stop 17+ hour flights?

AJ keeps on gloating how QF will be solving this 'problem' of the stop over...I certainly never had an issue with a stop over (I like).

It seems AJ is determined to solve this 'problem' that no one has asked to be solved.
I for one would love to be able to fly to Europe non-stop.

I hate going through security unnecessarily. My last time through DXB I spent an hour in a queue at 2am to 3am (UK time) before I got back into the duty free area. Nightmare. Singapore is no better, doing security and locking you into the gate area for 45min+ no toilets.

I'm lucky tho, I can sleep no sweat in economy without drugs, and my legs are relatively short so I fit quite comfortably. Anyone over 5ft10 and I can understand how any flight would be uncomfortable, be it 1 hour or 24.

Yep, it’s a big no from me. No interest in flying direct for 17+ hours even if it was cheaper.
I won’t ever be doing it no matter the class

All good here. The longest flight I've done is DFW-SYD - loved it!

Apparently all the passengers on the test flight were in J. There was a chef onboard who had been preparing the meals for days. Totally unrealistic conditions.

They need to see how people go doing the flight in Y and with the standard of service that will be realistically maintained.

Yes, please. 😀

Edit: I would never do Y on such a flight, anyway.

Living in PER and if I need to go to London, the non-stop is the way to go for me, even in Y. Done it before in Y (actually just to connect to TLV) and I'm doing it again. It's much more convenient than a stop in Singapore or wherever. That being said, I'm 5'10 with a BMI of ~22 and if it's night time can sleep in Y.

Shows we are all different.
I also live in PER but the direct flights don't appeal, even in J.
Although this may be because London would never be my destination so it would never be a truly direct flight.
I would always be transiting to CDG or MAD or elsewhere on the continent.
So the choice between say PER-HKG-CDG and PER-LHR-CDG is not as compelling.
In fact I would pay extra just to avoid LHR, the "luxury departures tax" and the stupid bus between T3 & T5.
Also if you book a discount business fare QF will almost always put you in economy for the LHR-CDG sector.
I have even seen that on some full flex J fares.
Of course eurobusiness is barely worth paying for but the baggage allowance can be an unwelcome surprise on that sector.
The basic BA fare is HLO and even WPs are only guaranteed one piece of checked luggage.

Personally I wonder if there is a length of flight time at which, even in a premium cabin, most people will say "no, I'd prefer to have a transit stop".
For me it's about 15 hours.

I done it, ca 20 hours, more that once in J and IMO it’s a stellar improvement compared with what’s offered with a stopover.

It’s no wonder it’s being pursued. Premium pax will love it. The question is, of course, will it be profitable for the airline?

Recently returned from a standard LAX-BNE flight. The crowd in Y was probably the worst behaved i've seen (and I've flown to south east asia plenty of times) and the 13ish hours overnight was more than enough. Can't imagine up to 20.

Sunrise would work for me if I was flying J/F - having a good sleep and enjoying the luxuries of the flight would be good.

As I have said I would do it in F in an EY apartment with a shower on board.
A shame the A380 neos were cancelled.

Sure but that’s just you.

Pax in J or F mostly love the super long hauls. Having done some, I agree with them. It’s obvious it’s a money maker if an airline can get the economics right. That’s the tricky part.

Y doesn’t matter so much.

Everyone's opinion is just them.

Sure. But I’ve actually done a few of these flights in premium class and all the other pax that I spoke to absolutely loved them.

They seem to be loved by premium pax but harder to be economically feasible for airlines.

I think 15.5 hours in EY F SYD-AUH is long enough in a premium cabin to get the general idea.
And some of that time was spent chatting to other PAX in the bar - oops sorry the lobby.
Can't call it a bar and draw too much attention to the alcohol being served.
