Further to today's announcement about Qantas gifting status credits and providing StatusKeeper(TM) payments to members (see Qantas Status Credits Boost), there was also a mention of earning status credits with selected luxury hotel offers.

I thought I would start a dedicated thread for discussing the hotel offers & status credits. Apparently, we'll be able to earn "up to" 100 status credits per hotel booking and a total of 125 status credits over the whole campaign. Bookings need to be made by 31 August 2020 and stay by 31 March 2021.

I couldn't find the most important information though. That is - how many status credits are actually earned per booking? Does anyone know?

I would need some indication as to when state borders will reopen to Victorians before the offer closes to consider making a booking. Wouldn't want to make a booking and then have to go through the hassle of changing it again.

Good idea. Great to be thinking of Travel again. I booked for Cairns next month. I just "chatted" with an Agent referring to the booking I made, 7 days in Cairns and was advised it was up to 125 status credits but the chat closed before I could capture the info to post here! From Adelaide, just hope Qld doesnt close up again.

I see this is added now, it seems each Hotel may be different:
Qantas Frequent Flyer members that book a 2 night stay at Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas via qantas.com/luxuryhotels between 14 and 31 July 2020, for stays until 31 March 2021 will earn 10 bonus Status Credits on Mirage Resort Room bookings, and 15 bonus Status Credits on Lagoon Studio Room bookings, accurate as at 14 July 2020. Additional nights added will earn 5 bonus Status Credits per room per night. The number of bonus Status Credits is limited to a maximum of 100 bonus Status Credits per booking, and a maximum of 125 bonus Status Credits over the whole campaign. See qantas.com/luxuryhotels for the full list of eligible hotels and available bonus Status Credits. Offer may be extended, changed or cancelled without notice. Bonus Status Credits will not be earned on cancelled or refunded bookings. Bonus Status Credits cannot be split between two or more members occupying the same room. To earn bonus Status Credits, quote your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number when booking. Bonus Status Credits will be credited to your account at least 8 weeks after check-out. Bonus Status Credits earned will contribute towards attaining and retaining all tiers and will also contribute towards attaining lifetime status. Bonus Status Credits will not contribute towards any bonuses including the Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward and Platinum One Bonus Reward. Visit our FAQs here.

Hmmm. Seems too many nights to get the status credits. I think I’ll wait for other offers that provide better value.

We've booked at Ovolo Nishi in Canberra at end of month, and they've updated the details to say:
Qantas Frequent Flyer members that book a 2 night stay at Ovolo Nishi via qantas.com/luxuryhotels between 14 and 31 July 2020, for stays until 31 March 2021 will earn 5 bonus Status Credits on Snug Sun room bookings, and 10 bonus Status Credits on Original Sun and Original Atrium bookings, and 15 bonus Status Credits on Original Atrium room bookings

Only 10 SC's, but that's better than nothing and 10 SC's closer to LTG

Looks like details have been added in for most hotels now. Looking roughly like every $200 spent = 5 status credits for the initial night, with 5 status credits per additional night (unless the room costs more than $500 per night, then it's 10).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

All the details of SC earn is I. The T&Cs at the bottom of the page on the QF website. Typical Qantas has made it overly complicated with different earn rates.

Yep, looks like it's there now.

When they first released the promo yesterday morning, the info about status credit earn rates was nowhere to be seen. ;)

This is very interesting! I am about to book a 2 night trip to the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas so very timely!

The only question is, is it worth getting the Status Credits instead of the Marriott Bonvoy nights?? I'm a bit torn! Or would you earn both if you put your Bonvoy card down at booking?

It would be one or the other.

I guess it depends on which one you need more?

You won't get Bonvoy nights credit if you book through Qantas hotels. Which path to take will depend if you have a particular status outcome with either Qantas/Marriott in mind. For me, I would book direct to get the Marriott night credits, but that is only because I am 7 nights away from requalifying platinum and getting the 5 suite night upgrade benefit. But YMMV.

Ye gods. How much fine print was that, all in random order. Are they going for the fine print record?

Looking at Sofitel BNE for a couple nights because it looked a good deal, with 10 SCs a modest sweetener. Unfortunately their fine print was right near the bottom.

Don't forget to fill in your "Border Border Declaration Pass" form... and take your driving licence along too.
Heh heh, brings back memories of the green Aust outgoing passenger form we used to have to fill in before departing Aust.

Yes. I have to keep reminding myself to do that. We are hiring a car in Cairns. Just hope it doesnt have Vic number plates. Maybe I will need to put up a sign saying we are South Aussies!

Just put a Port Adelaide pennant on the car - no one from Victoria would do that, so you'd be safe :)
