Qantas Status Credits Boost

I think QF is doing and has done well with all this positive work. Here we are high fiving and slapping each other on the back. Great Stuff.

Do we remember and think of the poor sods who rubbished QF, went Virgin and now staring into the bottom of their empty beer glass.

Over with that thought, back to QF. This 600 SC coming to me is most welcome and I look forward to always flying in the afternoons to partake in their beverage selection.
Yes, there’s been a bit of glass-half-full creeping in from some AFFers. The recent bonus SC matter is certainly a win-win.

Does this indicate there won’t be any double status credits offers in the next year or so since everyone essentially got DSC?

On the flip side, everyone’s status expiry date is different so there will be some people who have moved past their “50% year”, and they might also want to entice people up a tier.

Not necessarily. With international border closed QF will likely want to do everything they can to encourage domestic travel. I would not be surprised to see a DSC offer at all.

I do however think this means that an extraordinary triple status credits promo is definitely not going to happen.

I think they will be trying every method they can to encourage bookings.

Don’t know about everyone essentially getting DSC. We can only hope.😀

The Status Credits boost effectively halves the number of status credits needed to retain status. So if you are the kind of traveller that only flies on QF and uses DSC for all your flights to just retain status then effectively this has pretty much the same end result.

I definitely think there will still be bonus SC offers coming out later on. Almost a given.

Future DSC offers and the new SC bonus are completely different creatures of course.

The bonus SC are certainly a ‘bonus’. QF will undoubtably have another DSC offer when flights open up to international destinations/widespread domestic availability.

I got an email about this today but no credits in my account. My census date was 31 Dec 2019 and I re-qualified, so I'm good until 31 Dec 2021 with the extension, thus I'm not sure I need these anyway?

" Earning Status Credits on hotel bookings"
I can not see any status credit earn rates on the luxury offers.
Is it a status credit per $ spend calculation?

No they are set amounts for basic room for the offer, with extra for any extra nights booked, and extra for club rooms at some properties.

When the email first landed the QF luxury hotel offers webpage didn't have the details, but they came up later. You need to look at each hotel separately to check what they offer.

My understanding is that you will receive the status credit boost in January 2021 to help you retain status for 2022.

My Plat expiry date was Oct 2020; I had earnt no SCs till March as flying Sq mainly and my expiry date was extended to Oct 2021 back in March. My understanding is that in Nov 2020, I will be gifted 600 SCs to help me requalify Plat by Oct 2021...I personally don't think I will requalify Plat as I can't see international borders reopening in ALL of 2021 without prohibitive restrictions :(

Nice of QF to look after SQ frequent flyers so well. :p

Ah, great, makes sense given even if international flying does resume then, it will surely be at a much slower pace. The email was very vague about how this actually works.

So let's say your year is up EO Mar 21:
PS: 125+ (5*6) = 155/250 (62%) - need 95 more
SG: 300 + (15 * 6) = 390/600 (65%) - need 210 more
WP: 600 + (50 * 6) = 900/1200 (75%) - need 300 more
P1: 1800 + (150 * 6) = 2700/3600 (75%) - need 900 more

It's definitely more generous at the WP/P1 end, but I guess that recognises those levels usually rely on more international travel

..and/or Dom J which may now be off-limits for some corporate flyers (at least for the near future.)

Following this with interest. I think realistically given that there will be little or no international travel until at least the second quarter of 2021 this scheme would have to be changed into blanket status extensions.

I have 10 SC total earned since June 1st from Woolies.
Normally by this time I’m sitting on 1000-1200 year ends 31st May.
It’s going to be a hard slog
I’m in exactly the same spot @Princess Fiona, except it would have been the beginning of Oct when I would have hit 1200+. When I was in the RAAF as a Pilot Officer, someone said t9 me “thatks not a rank, it’s a flaw in the material of your epaulettes!” I feel the same way about 10SC - that’s not SC, that’s a typo!!

Anyway I hope i get the 600, but even that won’t save me given all the cancellations and no overseas.

Just a nice gesture without any cost. I feel that QF is performing better than other airlines.
Hey, they did think of their overseas members (a bit): The 4-Segment-Rule is waived for status extension.

For me it has no use. I am based in Europe. I have locked my LTG and dropped from Platinum. The 300SCs bring me closer to LTP-which - but I will never come to that!

I thought again about an upgrade to WP - as LH is quite nasty at the moment and I could switch some traffic back to Oneworld. But no way to make it onto an QF plane in the next future with all the restrictions. So the 4-Segment-Rule for Status-Upgrades is the killer for me. The wish and need to travel to Oz is there, but it won't be possible in my current status year. Since it is impossible for me to travel with QF at the moment all incentives are useless.

On the other hand: I pray for QF not to go bankrupt and take my LTG to the grave.
