Qantas starts international wifi

On a completely full 737 WLG-SYD. The trans-tasman performance is really consistently great.
Now we just need Viasat to fix their performance in the area around Indonesia (at least on East Coast to Singapore flights), it drops out way too much.

Is it just congestion on that beam, or are there restrictions on satellite internet there due to government regulations (like how India can be problematic).

Yeah, I've noticed that flying into Singapore on 330-200s, it's quite spotty over Indonesia.

I always assumed it was a regulatory problem over that region as there shouldn't be too many physical satellite gaps there.

What would be more useful than just internet speed test results is the results from Orb - The Network Experience Platform.

In the Platinum One briefing email sent today. Apparently A380 wifi rollout starting this month with plans for first aircraft to be live in October.

QantasLink A320 Wifi Installations
Quick summary: At least two A320s are now confirmed with radomes, which means onboard Wi-Fi is active or undergoing testing on these airframes.

Hey everyone, I've been tracking the fleet of 19 A320s over the past few weeks. It’s a bit of a complicated situation (like everything at Qantas) but by the looks of it, the radome (wifi) installations have been happening relatively quickly in the Perth hangars. Here is what I've gathered so far:

VH-UVT - Out of service from 02/07 -> 13/07 (11 days) - Radome likely
VH-VQM - Out of service from 13/07 -> 22/07 (9 days) - Radome likely
VH-VQU - Out of service from 17/07 -> 28/07 (11 days)
VH-VQW - Out of service from 30/06 -> Present (Singapore Seletar XSP)
Total of 4/19 A320s suspected as of 27/07/26

A320s are the absolute workhorses that QantasLink flies almost every single day. When one suddenly goes inactive for a week or so, it immediately stands out as a sign that it's in the hangar for maintenance or modifications. While I haven't come across any passenger reports of onboard Wi-Fi being live yet, a recent YouTube stream replay helped me spot the radome 'humps' on two A320s parked up in Perth (screenshot attached, though registrations are unclear). Going off the 787 rollout, once that radome is installed, there's a very good chance the Wi-Fi is either active or being tested.

For VH-VQW in Singapore, I have managed to get a peek of what might be a radome in this YouTube video.

If anyone has any more info on anything, please share! I’ll also update the list above as things happen

Anyone know if the 4 remaining 737s (I think ex-SQ?) are planned to have wifi installed? 3 out of 4 upcoming 737 flights have just changed to them, with no wifi and no economy plus seating either

Suspect wifi will be installed when the seats are reconfigured. These 4 are expected to be the first to get the new seats.
