Qantas Singapore lounge - better access for non-QF pax. than QF pax!

Maybe better put - "Have been a little more flexible in the past" - as per the OP.

Maybe they are trying to 'crack down'.

Presumably that was the reason why, earlier this year, they added "on the same flight" to the previously open to interpretation "travelling with".

Re: Whether it is right or wrong is irrelevant

Your title to this thread is correct - members of other oneworld programs indeed get generally better guesting rights at Qantas operated lounges than those using their Qantas Frequent Flyer access privileges.

Qantas can do what it likes with it's own members - but must adhere to oneworld policy for member of other oneworld FF programs. [Just as AA do with their members (no A/C access for North American journies unless an A/C member).]

It is VERY disturbing that QF policy officially treats a BA Silver better than a QFWP, or even a QFWP1, when it comes to guesting rights into its own lounges.

Maybe some U.S.-based airlines happen to do that as well. But U.S. airlines are those who do not give lounge access even if you're flying first class on domestic legs, or sell you mediocre food in their lounges for inflated prices. I would never take them as a sensible benchmark for Qantas.
Do BA, AF, CX, JAL, ANA or SQ ever discriminate against their own pax. in favour of their alliance members?

Please note that the above comments are independent of my situation - which is different because I was a JQ pax. and I understand it is not related to OW.
I am talking about a case of two ppl. flying QF82 and QF36, where only one has status. If they were QF WP, they were tough out of luck. If they were BA Silver, they would be welcomed in. In one word, I find this stupid.
I don't dispute that QF can do that - they could theoretically even decree that QF pax. can only enter lounges if they're WP1 and fly F, and pay 20K miles access fee. I just don't understand what purpose they can serve with this restriction....

Why are they out of luck, a QF WP can guest in someone on Qf36 if they are on QF82 in the Skyview or BA lounge . Must admit I do find it a bit odd in the context of OWE privileges versus QF elite.

Sorry now I'm confused.

Last week I was in BKK I'm a WP I was flying 3K to SIN and Miss TripleB (no status) was on QF to SYD. We both got in to the QF lounge no problems. Am I right in thinking that we (well Miss TripleB) shouldn't have got in?

(p.s. my reading of the page is that, yes, Miss Triple B shouldn't have got in - but had she been on the same 3K flight then she could have)

If Miss bbb was under the age of 18 then the family rules should kick in.

That seems to be taking the rosiest possible interpretation of the the rules; it can also be argued that the the "same flight" provision applies. Though I don't suppose that particular scenario would occur too often.
I'd be interested to know how rigorously the "same flight" rule is enforced generally.

My experience with staff in BKK lounge is quite good.

My friend was travelling SQ and he was allowed into the lounge with me.
