I still maintain that nothing has changed for Domestic Economy fares - as Serfty has suggested, Child Fare doesn't entail a discount domestically in economy.
P.s - Get of Red Roo's case.
......so there is marginly less fuel used (although that margin could be eaten up by unfavorable winds),
I can still access it.
This article in The Oz The Australian quotes a QF spokes person confirming seniors discounts are gone too. Bewdy Alan.
Bit of a lack of acumen here on Qantas' part. If they delayed these announcements for 2 weeks (ie Budget night) - no-one would have noticed![]()

Nice try, but as a VA WP I continue to urge all friends with children to fly QF because of the play areas they have scattered around some QPsMaybe QF is hoping passengers with children migrate to VA and those who'd like child free flights might ditch VA??
This might be good for some QFFers. Less children occupying J seats, more chance of an upgrade?

FWIW, back in the later 90's my wife and I did a 37500 point each business class around Australia award together - MEL-PER-BME-AYQ-ASP-CNS-BNE-MEL over three weeks. We were accompanied by 6yo mini serfty on a paid basis - her fare @50% was about $1900.I know it happens, but I have yet to actually be on a flight where there where kids in J. To put it bluntly there are just not that many families who can shell out $5000 just so their child can sit in J / have the points available, and those that can are typically not phased by an increase.
Traveling with a family is an expensive enough exercise. Even a discount Y trips starts to cost some serious $$$ (and it's serious $$$ on more than just the flights) once you throw in some ankle biters.
As a parent with kids that fly a little - I'm not that bothered with this loss.
