Just another disappointing change with Qantas, my partner and I are flying in Business on a Monday and made sure we booked the A380 product. We got notification that our QF 11 and 12 flights had changed to the 747 product, this is true for all monday flights in September as we searched, which means that Qantas no longer flys A380 daily between SYD and LAX. :( Not happy. And misleading as their website still say A380 fly daily SYD LAX on QF 11 and QF 12.

Could be many reasons why it's been subbed for a month.

You could always ring and ask to change days? It could also change back too, it is over 3 months away..

it is not hard to maintain a consistent international product when you only have a couple of destinations to serve and a handful of aircrafts in the fleet.

Dang! I got an email during the week saying my SYD-LAX had changed (August)

Only thing I noticed was the trip was 5 mins shorter. Guessing because it's now a 747.

Will investigate! May stay a day longer if I get the 380. Else see if I can fly back direct to BNE if I'm on the 747

This was bad for me as well, changed to the Melbourne service instead. It'll be most annoying for those that were booked in first for those days, lol what will happen for them I wonder.

Good to see Tuesday is still an a380 (for now)

I'll have to check my booking it's on a Saturday next month so hopefully OK.
EF tells me that there's only availability in F and J with W and Y completely zeroed out so I'm pretty sure that would be difficult to sub

Same has happened for my SYD-LAX flight on 19 Sep, received an email earlier this week. Very annoyed, one of the main reasons I chose QF for this particular flight was for the A380 product. Would QF allow me to switch onto another A380 flight that week?

Seems August September and October have the 4 class 747 service on days 1 3 and 5. And then starting 10 October it goes to 747 on days 2 and 5. So PrincessFiona I would check that Saturday booking if I was you!

It would have to be maintainence for an A380 - they don't make a late change like that unless it is a good reason, I have a feeling one of them has to go for one of those major checks.

I have a booking in August and got that 'your flight has changed'. I didn't realise it changed the aircraft until I looked at the seat map. I think oz is right on what days it has occured.

I'm assuming this is not one of the refitted 747-400s with A380 product?

I wonder if they will sub it back? Im wondering if I should try move to a flight a day later and come back on 380. Prob is that I got one of those free upgrade requests on a sale fare that cost me like 1190 return in Y. So if I change, I'll probably lose that perk!

Rushing off to check it right now !!!

EDIT: it's all good, fingers crossed for the upgrade ;)

I would be pushing the fact that you have booked the ticket based on the A380 experience.

Yeh yeh I know that last minute substitutions can occur, and that, I understand.

This is, however, months in advance and is planned. As such ask to change your flights to another day, if denied push the point, if still denied push it through the ACCC and/or consumer affairs in your relevant state/territory

Is QF going to give some of the 747s with First a refurb? You would think now with delayed A380s it would prove Handy for situations like this/more operational flexibility etc. And I know there are a few FFs who prefer 747s.

Well they have to take them out of service to refit the cabins with all the extra seats at some point so would expect that more of this substition will occur of the rest of the year untill all the upsizing is complete.

Would I have any chance of a change (without a fee of course) even though I booked a Sale fare?

I called, wont change with out change fees. Pressed the point of paying for the A380 Experience. On hold for 8 min, then informed no seats in my fare class are available to change (LAX-MEL-SYD) and I would still have to pay a change fee. Again, I know that sometime operational issues mean last minutie changes, but this is crazy, considering ozmille has suggested will not even be the same business product.
