Sort of. If business conditions are good, the jobkeeper money ends up adding to profit (not going to staff). Because Jobkeeper was design to keep employees with employers, there was no obligation to “add“ to staff wage, just support the current wage.

Businesses only had to qualify in 1 month to keep receiving payment for the remainder of the program. So if a business turnover was down 30% in March 2020 (compared to March 2019) the the business received jobkeeper until the end of September 2020. This was hugely beneficial to business profit if they then bounced back from April 2020 onward. Because they received jobkeeper but were actually busier because of COVID. Think of all the home renovations and JBHIFI purchases etc.

I was thinking this this week. Club invitations can only be used in conjunction with QF or JQ flights (there is no cost without associated revenue); the lounges surely aren't as busy as they always were; it might help stimulate lounge memberships or status runs, etc.

Lot of hyperbole.

Their great for positive PR I must say.

Desperate cos need pax as will struggle to gain funds from next ASX CR.

Gov will assist by years end.

I wasn't being 100% serious. QF do have a track record of making announcements for things that don't happen for MANY years.

On this specific topic though, if they were serious about helping get the vaccination rates up they would have implemented this plan months ago. What's the value in waiting until 60% of the population is vaccinated and then rewarding everyone? If there was ever an industry that would want the numbers to go up as quickly as possible, it would be the airlines.

So this idea was floated months ago. Why isn't it live yet? Could it just be to drag it out and free free publicity for the spin? </cynic>
