I assume you mean as a pax.. given Qantas used to pay you.

Equally guessing the A350XLR may well be popular with many pilots. Say 24hr block time, would be 18 return trips a year to hit the (afaik) 900hr limit.
With a say 48hr rest at the other end, so 96hr (4-day) trip, you're only away from home 72 days a year.

Certainly seems more attractive than getting the hours 1-2hrs at a times domestically.

I would imagine most of it would be quite boring looking at the dials.
And then only 2 destinations maybe for the rest of your career

I havr to imagine if you're a PS qualified pilot, when the regular a350 fleet joins, you could also bid for those flights. Those would go to a lot more destinations.

Even the PS birds will be doing other things. Albeit still LR. eg MEL-DFW, PER-LHR.

Think I read in The Australian the over week that PS pilots won't just do these marathon flights, but will also be qualified to do A330 flights to balance things out. Unsure if overtime that will become regular A350 flights.

Coming off that flight, I think there were 8 guys in ties and epaulettes, and one lady with epaulettes but no tie and a lanyard - so, all pilots? 3 rosters? Or two and a spare?

In an interview this morning on TV it was stated 8 pilots.

That’s correct. The 330/350 share a common type rating.
