I think I read somewhere that they'll be running them on SYD-SIN and SYD-LAX at first so they can stretch their legs.

Makes sense for crew familiarisation ahead of the ULH services

My understanding was it would only go on the AU - NZ routes, but that would be great if they flew to SIN & LAX

By design, the A351 is the “LR” variant. The “ULR” nomenclature is not an official Airbus variant. Currently, it’s unique to the QF aircraft, so not unreasonable to try and differentiate the two models.

I'm confused here. Did someone internally copy pasta from their old operating MO or is there something we're missing here?

‘We plan to base some of our new A350-1000ULRs (my bolding) in Melbourne which will let us fly to international destinations we can’t reach from there today. Qantas and Jetstar currently serve 17 international destinations out of Melbourne and that number is expected to grow’

So LR in the July press release, now ULR.
What exactly is planned?!
