My understanding was it would only go on the AU - NZ routes, but that would be great if they flew to SIN & LAXI think I read somewhere that they'll be running them on SYD-SIN and SYD-LAX at first so they can stretch their legs.
Makes sense for crew familiarisation ahead of the ULH services
… Did someone internally copy pasta …
Good idea to move about a bit on long-haulI think I read somewhere that they'll be running them on SYD-SIN and SYD-LAX at first so they can stretch their legs.
By design, the A351 is the “LR” variant. The “ULR” nomenclature is not an official Airbus variant. Currently, it’s unique to the QF aircraft, so not unreasonable to try and differentiate the two models.
I'm confused here. Did someone internally copy pasta from their old operating MO or is there something we're missing here?
Qantas has said its nonstop, ultra-long flights will boost profits for the Australian airline by about A$400mn (US$285mn), even with persistently higher jet fuel prices caused by the Iran war.
Chief executive Vanessa Hudson told the FT, “We’ve retested that business case and I think that some of the things that continue to make us confident about that number are that the demand for non-stop services continues to be incredibly strong.”
Thanks for that link.
I was kind of hoping that JFK would happen before LHR since we’re planning a trip on QF3 J this time next year. It would have been good to get bumped to the non-stop!Thanks for that link.
We mostly travel to NY (where my wife's family is). LA is generally a 2 day stopover for us, to rest and do a bit of touristy stuff, then the 5hr flight LAX-JFK because even after we get there there's a 2.5hr drive out to where we stay.
I cannot fathom us doing it non-stop, not unless we could afford business.
Hopefully no beans, lentils nor asparagus in the catering! With the PER-LHR trips I wonder what the cabin smells like on arrival.
Well, yes… but the thing is, perhaps, that by the time you muck around with decent and landing, taxing, working way to immigration, customs, then your transit hotel…. just another 2-3 hours you’d be touching down in New York! Thanks for that link.

…
Translation: we're confident enough people will pay the high fares we intend to charge for these flights?
AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements
Fingers crossed they can get the Wifi going by that stageThanks for that link.

I was thinking more along the lines of a lack of showers on board...I was kind of hoping that JFK would happen before LHR since we’re planning a trip on QF3 J this time next year. It would have been good to get bumped to the non-stop!

No difference for the thousands who connect today without showering and could be travelling even longer!I was thinking more along the lines of a lack of showers on board...
For us, from door to door (our place to the daughter's place) it's just on 24hrs when we transit at LAX if we don't stay overnight at MEL, hence why the last 3 times we did the 2 day stopover in LA as we were so tired and sore.Well, yes… but the thing is, perhaps, that by the time you muck around with decent and landing, taxing, working way to immigration, customs, then your transit hotel…. just another 2-3 hours you’d be touching down in New York!
Strange comment. What are you expecting? No announcement ?My favourite type of Qantas announcement!
"Something shiny in the hazy distance will happen, and we will take every opportunity to roll out another announcement about it every few months!"![]()
the transit in sydney complicates things. And you’d arrive in NY too tired to driveFor us, from door to door (our place to the daughter's place) it's just on 24hrs when we transit at LAX if we don't stay overnight at MEL, hence why the last 3 times we did the 2 day stopover in LA as we were so tired and sore.
But with this service we still have to get to Sydney and go through all the hoops from security at MEL, to the same at SYD going over to the international terminal from the domestic one.
The last trip that my wife did to NY was with Cathay, MEL via HKG and then to NY. But that trip wasn't without its hassles as her luggage was not loaded onto the outbound leg (it arrived by courier at the daughter's the next day). Still a 24hr trip, though.
Its another 9 months before any tickets go on sale (and that is for the following year!!!) and lets face it QF have form when it comes to making announcements and then not delivering...Strange comment. What are you expecting? No announcement ?
Wifi is going already on everything except the a380. Those are being installed as we speak.Fingers crossed they can get the Wifi going by that stageQantas do love to make plenty of promises don't they - a pity they fail on the delivery (Sydney Int Business Lounge, London First Lounge & Aircraft boarding, Wifi...etc)
At this point though, this announcement will be on the back of airbus delivery schedule. Its another 9 months before any tickets go on sale (and that is for the following year!!!) and lets face it QF have form when it comes to making announcements and then not delivering...
