Just looking at email from QF re Travel in 2015 Promo and it appears a lot of the prices are not showing up on the website correctly in J.

Example Email shows MEL- LHR in J as $6987.00 return yet the website when viewed is showing cheapest price in J as $8124.00 Melbourne Santiago shown as $4849.00 in the email and $5228.00 on the website.

Other prices are also not showing on the web as per the email.

Most frustrating as the email does not include any idea of dates these fares apply so cant even check to see if they are available.

Please Qantas check every thing works before putting a promo out as this kind of thing makes you look like a bunch of amateurs.

The dates are shown on the website on the flights special in the graph of fare prices. The one random route I checked seemed to have the cheap price post March 2015. Which dates are you looking at?

My email also says the following:

Prices based on payment at qantas.com by BPAY.*
Selected travel dates and days apply. Flights to and from Johannesburg or Santiago are via Sydney. Flights to and from New York (JFK) are via Sydney and Los Angeles and valid for departures between Monday and Thursday. Travel between Los Angeles and New York (JFK) is valid on QF15/QF16 only. Fares to and from London are valid if you return on/after 1 April 2015 and for departures between Sunday and Thursday. Flights between Adelaide and Dubai operated by Emirates. Passengers traveling on International Premium Economy fares will be seated in Economy on domestic connections within Australia

So restrictions to some flight numbers and must return after 1 April for London.

the most annoying thing i find is using the sales page and then using flexible dates and seeing nothing is available - surely the advertising should be taken down then if they've already sold out across an entire month.

the end result is just ignoring sale emails and pages and using aggregators like kayak that show lots of airline choices...

Hi Medhead

I saw that at the bottom which does indicate return after 1 April however what dates do is start from and what is the last date you can return on.

The dates I am looking at is 2nd July returning 11th July 2015.

I just feel it would be simpler if QF actually told us when it starts and finishes rather than having to take pot luck only to find out later that if you looked a week before or after the price may actually be available. IE we are looking at either going to LHR in July for a wedding or May for a special Birthday.

If we know that the fare is available in May and Not July then that would enable us to decide quickly if this deal suits or us not.

Also the main point was that according to the email the lowest price is $6897 and on the web it refers to the lowest price as being $8124.00

I was just responding to the point about finding the valid dates. These are on the website in the flight specials area. Select international fares, business class, origin Melbourne, then scroll down to the required destination. Click on the "View Dates, Details and Book" button against then required destination. This then brings up a graph with a line showing the fare. Hover the mouse pointer over the line it will display the fare and valid dates. In the case, of MEL-LHR those dates are 1 Mar to 20 Nov.

Agreed the price is different to the email, but I'm just addressing the valid dates question.

Ok Have just had a phone call from QF and it seems that they have indeed stuffed up and put the wrong price on the email it Should be $8124.00 NOT $6987.00 as indicated in the email. The sale is valid from march till November and a new email will be coming out rather hurriedly to correct this plus a few other mistakes in the pricing.

The interesting thing is that QF have stated that they will honor the $6987.00 return for any flights that I want to book in the period of the offer.

I note that Y fare has now gone from an advertised price of $1818.00 to $1823.00 and was about an hour ago down at $1794.00. Pretty amateurish IMO.

I got home to see 2 emails from QF. The one noted above and a correction stating the London prices were wrong and listing all the fares again with (I assume) the correct amounts.

Likewise I have received a 'correction' email... It seems far too often that emails published by QF are followed up with corrections and endless apologies. Surely it would pay to cross check fares with those listed on the website and even just perform a cursory inspection for errors - I.e proof reading?

I also bear a strong disliking for the vertical, text only new layout of the Red-emails, much preferred the old style with clear dates set out underneath prices... Not sure why these were 'enhanced'
