Bit OT, but AwardWallet will intro a fee in Feb. So far, I have been using the plus version free.

The login/security processes are irrelevant. You have no way of knowing how secure their system is.

Probably more secure than some of the loyalty programs own systems. At least award wallet uses MFA to log in.

Getting OT, but there is a free version and a "pro" version currently costing USD5 for 6 months. There are also some readily available coupon codes that provide the "pro" upgrade for 12 months at no charge.

Come February the "pro" cost will go to USD30 for 12 months for those who have not paid $$$ for the "pro".

Those who have a current paid $$$ "pro" enrolment will be "grandfathered" by only having to pay USD10 for each 12 months as long as their subscription continues to be current.

I'm unsure what "be-willed" means.

Thanks to GPH. You have just reminded me to proof read prior to posting. Should have been "bewildered" meaning cause (someone) to become perplexed and confused.

Or more usually (in my case) "predictive text is my enema" (lol).

So does anyone know why Qantas won't let us view our activity statements up to the 18 month cutoff?

This probably seems harsh, and not intended to the OP specifically but more in general, if one hasn't earned in 18 months then it could be that the program isn't that important to them. Now sure, there can be MANY reasons why someone may not earn in over a year - illness, financial hardships, etc but the policy is pretty clear IMHO. Having written that I do feel QF don't go out of their way to let you know when. Other programs are better.. heck my UA app even tells me my points will expire on SATURDAY June 30, 2018 :D

For well over 10 years I had a priority club (now IHG) account with 250 points sitting in it uncared for and unusued for various reasons. sure the points didn't expire and that was great, but to them that account was a liability. I didn't care about the 250 points - it meant nothing it was just there. I can see the reason to expire loyalty points - apart from the liability, it ensures if you want to use them or get ongoing value, then you need to contribute to the account (ie: revenue). To me it's sort of like status - you earn it, but if you don't work to keep it, you fall back through the tiers to base (with the obvious exception of lifetime status).

Who this policy really disadvantages, in my view, is the very infrequent flyer who perhaps does a trip someplace "every other year" and thinks they'll slowly build up so they can get an award somewhere in the long term, and if their "every other year" flight (assuming no other activity) causes a 18month gap then they're in trouble. However it's also likely that point totals would also be relatively small for that reason.

Speaking of statements I did a cleanup over the break of old files and found some QFF paper statements from the 2000's.. in one year, with a whopping lifetime SC count of 430 or something(how far I've come) I had a whole 10 points expire for some reason. I honestly can't remember if I was annoyed or not! :D (some amusing reading in the archives). The statement did print the expiry date too i think.

I have over 70,000 VS miles that I earned when they were still flying to Australia. I have not earned any miles since they stopped flying to Australia.

You are right in that FlyingClub is not that important to me and think miles are expiring soon. Well I hope they haven't yet expired. I don't check that often and vaguely recall expiry sometime in 2017.

My thoughts are these miles should never expire. Why would they? VS has made money out of the miles in the first place. But I can of course earn some more miles to keep them going longer or I can transfer to Hhonors or book an overpriced award on SQ or waste them on VA domestic flights.

Bearing in mind it is a QF Frequent Flyer/QF loyalty programme (I know woolies/banks etc are on the bandwagon) if you have shown no loyalty or frequency in 18 months then your value to them is low. Conversely. as many on this site have opined the "loyalty" for those who are loyal appears one way all too often.
