Did that flight have a QF flight number though? Terms say "marketed or with a QF flight number".

However, I do like how Qantas hedge their bets:
"These conditions and exclusions may vary from time to time. It is the responsibility of the Member to check whether a proposed booking is eligible to earn Status Credits and if so, how many will be earned."

I may be putting two and two together and getting five...

I had thought that pretty much any OW flight can get a QF codeshare flight number provided there is one passenger on it who booked the flight as a revenue fare on the same itinerary as a QF operated original flight. If that is correct, maybe the status credits are pot luck as to whether any of your fellow passengers have triggered that codeshare flight number.

Has it shown up on your activity statement as a classic award also, or in a paid earning category such as Discount Economy, Business, etc - and did it also earn points?

Points as well. I think you are on the right track. Looks like it was booked on the wrong class. When I see the Qantas flights I got status credits but no points.

I've had a JAL F award somehow book into an earning class before but never got the chance to fly it due to covid :'(

Mrs SS was upgraded from Y to J on a classic reward from Melbourne to HK several years ago and received J scs and points. Don't tell Qantas!

It's not "pretty much any OW flight" but specific routes/departures on which Qantas has a codeshare agreement with the operating carrier. Usually this would target flights which connect to a Qantas metal arrival or departure. For example, most (possibly all) AA JFK-LAX carry the QF flight number as it connects to QF arrivals/departures out of Los Angeles. But AA DCA-MIA flights don't carry the QF number as Qantas flies to neither port.

In any case, Qantas doesn't usually sell partner classic awards on its codeshare flight number as the award inventory is controlled by the operating carrier rather than Qantas. (there are a handful of exceptions such as Aircalin awards can be booked on a QF number)

Nice, that means you not only going points & SC but also earned SC at the full rate rather than the reduced award earn (Y 70%, J 40%, F 30%)

Fair enough. I used to fly domestically in the UK and so many domestic flights would sometimes have (multiple) codeshare flight numbers that I assumed it was unrestricted. My theory about codeshares and SCs seems to have been negated anyway because Fil-Ski found the flights were mistakenly booked onto a revenue class.

Seems like BA reward flights at least for SYD-SIN-LHR earns you status credits based on some examples I’ve seen so far. Think it might work for BA reward flights if Qantas also uses that route. Maybe not for their other routes in the world though but it might be worth a try (I.e. transatlantic routes).

Wine is still the best option. Points post pretty quickly. And you will have Christmas presents for everyone in one shop!

Last time I got the Qantas Wine bonus points it pretty much took about 3 days, but might be a few weeks in some instances.

Wine points usually post within a few days (a little longer sometimes but less than 2 wks). I‘ve received points before the wine.
