1. It gives them info on who checks their emails and who is willing to click it;
2. To lull some people into booking without registering to avoid paying the points.

I figured it was more number 2 myself, I always register 'just in case' although I very rarely use my points to book Classics, more value for me using them to upgrade international flights.

Since you need to register before booking I would say that you won't get any points back.

Same position as you. Don't think we'll get the points as it does say in the T&Cs that it's for bookings from 24th Jan.

Cancelling and re-booking isn't worth it as it would cost me more points to cancel than I'd get back!

Answer I'm afraid is yes.

If the seat/award is still there (or another one), you could cancel for the fee of ???6,000 points and re-book at a points profit.

Its 5000 points per person per booking as a cancellation fee.

It applies to Qantas flight numbers QF1 to QF199 only. A classic award on Emirates will always be an EK flight number, so you won't get points back on that sector.

DXB-LHR is Zone 4, so only 8000 points back. Probably not worth it.

I just want to say that this offer is highly discriminatory in that this deal is only for those that can travel by 31 March 2014.
