Got the e-mail, can't open the web page for details (just "waiting") . Oi! you lot! Stop overloading the Qantas server :)

And following the links above (which work), then a link in the end of this Qantas footnote text

I wonder why they make you 'Register' for these offers? What's the point exactly?

1. It gives them info on who checks their emails and who is willing to click it;
2. To lull some people into booking without registering to avoid paying the points.

I figured it was more number 2 myself, I always register 'just in case' although I very rarely use my points to book Classics, more value for me using them to upgrade international flights.

I wonder if this offer will tempt punters. Very timely considering I had just logged out after checking award flights. More "important information" available via the link.

Since you need to register before booking I would say that you won't get any points back.

No I had a very brief search before posting. Someone will quickly delete my post. Thanks for linking me.

Same position as you. Don't think we'll get the points as it does say in the T&Cs that it's for bookings from 24th Jan.

Cancelling and re-booking isn't worth it as it would cost me more points to cancel than I'd get back!

:evil:

Answer I'm afraid is yes.

If the seat/award is still there (or another one), you could cancel for the fee of ???6,000 points and re-book at a points profit.

Its 5000 points per person per booking as a cancellation fee.

I'm flying Perth to London Via Dubai Business class emirates flight to Dubai and Qantas to London, do I get points back on both? can someone help me pretty please figure out if it's worth it to cancel?

It applies to Qantas flight numbers QF1 to QF199 only. A classic award on Emirates will always be an EK flight number, so you won't get points back on that sector.

DXB-LHR is Zone 4, so only 8000 points back. Probably not worth it.

I just want to say that this offer is highly discriminatory in that this deal is only for those that can travel by 31 March 2014. ;)

1. It gives them info on who checks their emails and who is willing to click it;
2. To lull some people into booking without registering to avoid paying the points.

Probably also

3. helps with the automated process for checking who gets points.
