Qantas Platinum One experiences?

A bit of a side question - do you guys still have the Communication Options/Preferences in your QFF account where you would put your interests for leisure and/or sport activities.

I keep hearing about P1 event invites being (partially) linked to these preferences and I know I’ve seen them on my account before but they don’t seem to exist anymore. People still talk about having certain things selected in FB chats so I feel like I’m crazy that I can’t find it? 😅

It was turned off some time back according to the VIP team, however I understand that something is coming to help them identify customers Interests. No idea when or what it involves.

The IRROPs genie worked for me yesterday. Had a cancelled flight and was immediately and magically put onto the next one while 50 people were queued at the service desk.

In contrast, another (Silver) traveller told me he’d have to wait 3 hrs for his replacement seat.

Thanks VIP team. It’s these services that make all the difference for frequent travellers.

Imagine what happens to CL members.

I've been in that position - cancelled flight. Two other passengers, at least one of which were CL - were put on the next flight (full) and 2 pax were offloaded to accommodate them.

I wasn't so lucky (a few hours delay), but it was better than those others in the line with a 10-12 hour delay.

Everyone is equal, but some people are more equal than others 😂

Just received an invite to the CL in Melbourne on Tuesday before my flight to Brisbane, interestingly this time it also allows me to take one person with me that is travelling on the same flight. QF620

Just went through the Melbourne CL. Was an absolute ghost town. When I arrived there were two others in there. By the time I left I was the only person in there. Felt bad for the staff given there were five or six working at the time.
If QF had made CL access more frequent or regular especially give how quiet (ahem exclusive) it is at times, I’d have tried harder to retain P1 but I expect this to be my last year. Yes I know it’s irrational, the $$$ could instead buy a whole ocean of S&P squid.

I was at a P1 event this week with QF CEO and they gave a few "awards" to some of the attendees e.g. most SC in a year. The one that struck me was most QF flights in a membership year...186! Probably a domestic road warrior!

Ive been thinking about this a bit and I too have recently been to a deserted CL so given that CL is gifted 'just because' and nothing to do with their loyalty or actual personal flights and P1 is actually earned with us recognized as the top 1% of travelers, why doesn't Qantas initiate a co-share for P1's in the CL? Now that would be something that genuinely recognizes and appreciates our loyalty. The Business lounges are so underwhelming and constantly full.

It feels that the exclusivity and invite only CL access would be broken in this case, which Qantas may want to preserve.
Although, maybe a couple of non transferable CL pass invite could be a nice way to reward the P1 and give them a taste of that exclusivity. My 2 cents, I am just a nobody WP :)

Out of interest do you recall what amount the most SC in a year was?

I've suggested 2 CL passes per membership year in every survey I've received as a P1 over the years. Would be a tangible and more certain benefit. To no avail.

A very happy P1 of late. I havent been online lately as quite busy with work

In the last week:

1. P1 invite to Katy Perry which was fantastic. Katy put on a great show and appreciate the invite.

2. Looked after well in a rare domestic flight down the back. Got some sparkling wine discretely which was very welcome

3. Just off the most phenomenal EK F redemption. The crew thought of everything and had a great transit experience in DXB where was personally escorted from plane, had a nice massage and at a quiet time of day in DXB.

4. Enjoyed a visit to the SYD CL a few weeks ago which was great before my regular 5pm golden triangle service. Could get used to the CL service.

About 200 SCs from requalifying which I should hit on my next golden triangles when I get back from a European vacay.

I can see why! Thanks for the info!

Out of interest, is most of your spend on QF metal vs. codeshares/international?

I do about 7k SCs a year (without DSCs), but wondering if I'm not getting any of the event invites as many of my flights are on oneworld partners (that said, they're all purchased through Qantas, so maybe that counts towards by bottom line spend figure / PCV?).

The only thing I've received is a one-off CL invite earlier this year, which was a wonderful surprise, but trying to crack the (intentionally opaque) code of how to get on the events list!

Unless someone who works within QF can confirm/deny, perhaps they are doing something like BA's incentive pointing system, where it knows when to invite people a certain events to 'try' and keep them in Plat One, or reaching that happy medium to give it out every now and then.

You mentioned you do about 7k before DSC, perhaps QF doesn't have any incentive really to throw if you are going to fly as much? Always worth reaching out to the P1 Team to express this view tbh.
