Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Not sure if this VIP Preferences section for P1 is new? I hadn't seen it before nor set a preference, it seems to have defaulted to off.

Wonder what an "eligible VIP service request" is!

Depressing experience on QF 921 out of the Sunshine Coast to Melbourne today. I’m a P1 (and I am fairly confident the only P1 on this particular flight) traveling in Y on Economy Flex Fare ticket sitting in seat 4C which I selected online at time of booking. This seat was showing a shadow until boarding.

There was a short delay prior to boarding and while waiting in the queue to board I heard a walkie talkie conversation with the boarding staff and plane staff about moving a customer from Row 29 into ……. you guessed it Row 4. Due to this last minute operational decision 4B was occupied by a pleasant, tall and strapping young man with broad shoulders necessitating a flight with most of my body leaning into the aisle.

There were at least 6 other seats that he could have been seated in as very valid options and the passengers seated in Rows 5, 6 & 7 immediately behind me all had available middle seats which were left empty for the flight.

I would be very grateful to hear your opinions regarding this - is it normal for Row 4 to be the first choice for operational seat relocations at last minute? Does Qantas intentionally try to compromise the comfort of its most loyal and supportive customers (because that it what it feels like today !)

I did apply for an upgrade for this flight a few days before departure but failed so I was happy to be in 4C with a shadow. I am reconsidering my booking strategy going forward as this situation made me feel as if being a P1 in row 4 is not ideal if it’s the first choice for any operational emergencies and repositionings.
Grateful to hear your opinions on which seats you would select as a P1 travelling in Y ?
I think I was on this flight but a few rows behind. Was it the flight were the Qantas booking computers in Maroochydore failed and manual check-in was required resulting in a 1 hour 55 min late departure ? If that's the case, NO-ONE at the airport or plane would have known your status as all computers were down. In the eyes of the crew, we were all bronze flyers. No an issue really. I missed my connection to the west coast and was 18 hour late for work but I did have a fantastic afternoon in Sydney CBD

Has been around for a few months.
Don’t get too excited, it’s just opting you into that generic “We can confirm your booking is in order” email that arrives a couple of days before an Int dep.
