Really is that what I said ? Chasing another P1 for next year is not worth it. Is that the clarification ?So your experience is not as a P1 ?
Thanks for the clarification.
You never replied about your experiences ?Really is that what I said ? Chasing another P1 for next year is not worth it. Is that the clarification ?
Bundle of Perks then ?tbh I don't think anyone on this (long) thread has ever supported the notion of chasing P1 status. Yes, some of the perks (when able to be used) are very worthwhile, but worth chasing? I think it would be quite difficult to find someone who would suggest that. imo.

RichardMel why is that? Curiously asking as people chase many things …. In life and have seen plenty chasing higher status.tbh I don't think anyone on this (long) thread has ever supported the notion of chasing P1 status. Absolutely people do. Some status is more worthwhile chasing than others of course. For example, I'd suggest someone with medium travel future plans chase Gold or even Plat if they felt they could get there reasonably enough because those are likely worth it in terms of investment in time and money IF of course the benefits would likely be used over the following year.RichardMel why is that? Agreed and Concur very ambiguous benefits once past the platinum stage - reaching for it and unless easy to get - one would tend not to aim times 3 more for a requalification of a Platinum1.Absolutely people do. I reckon, and I feel many agree, that the requirements for P1 being x3 of Platinum requal, with the huge QF/JQ requirement etc means it's a significant step up in travel time and investment ($$$) to attain. I reckon that most P1 flyers attain it because they fly enough through work or personal travel (or mix) that they get there without a lot of trying. The true road warriors and high flyers. Of course, this is a huge generalisation and I'm not trying to categorise anyone in particular in how or why they get to P1 but my general observation over the years have been that for many it's more that it comes as a result of a lot of travel, not because they did a lot extra to get there (sure, if you're at 3200 SC's you might have reason to get that extra 400, but if you're on 2100 and have 3 months to go in your year, it's not really likely imo).
Now sure, many of us play the games (I sure do) with DSC and all of that - no question. Would that be considered "chasing" the status? Perhaps/perhaps not. I suppose it depends on individual situations.
Anyway I guess the core of my belief regarding "chasing" P1 is that, frankly, the benefits aren't worth the investment if the goal is ONLY to get P1. Yes, they are better than Platinum, but 3x as good? I know a lot of it you can't easily quantify (ie: manual review of reward release requests, VIP service team service -when they do it, etc) but it's a HUGE requirement - and the consistently inconsistent(tm) nature of QF service delivery - and even moreso to the "best" customers I think makes the proposition even less valuable than, for example, SQ's PPS, UA Global Service, AA CK, and other like tiers.
I'm sure others in this thread will opine about the value of chasing P1 of course.
Totally agree with this comment, I think there are very few flyers who would chase P1. However I think if you have the volume of travel to get to P1, the question (or dilemma) is do you split your spend between Qantas (and get to WP) and another carrier like SQ (PPS)?I reckon, and I feel many agree, that the requirements for P1 being x3 of Platinum requal, with the huge QF/JQ requirement etc means it's a significant step up in travel time and investment ($$$) to attain. If one has the option to split in this way, and the travel pattern would permit (and seems for you that at least a fair number could be on SQ metal?) then it may well make sense. I suppose if it were me I'd look at a cost/benefit list of sorts to the various options for the future membership period in both programs in light of projected travel - for example, would there be more potential travel on QF where potentially P1 could be of benefit vs SQ? It's an interesting comparision with P1 and PPS because they both require significant spend on the "home" carrier.. so simply looking at potential flying on partners (OW or Star) isn't quite so relevant. I'd probably go for the half and half option myself - mostly because SQ have better product and service overall, but also having significant status in both camps gives much more options for future travel. It's all very dependent on the shorter and medium term plans and goals of course. eg if I couldn't see myself flying to many places served by SQ during the next membership year, then there's little point to chase PPS (and same goes for QF/P1) so it's of course going to be a call based on your specific situation, future needs and projected travel and spend. That’s the dilemma I have. Do you split the spend or stay fully loyal.
Yes, it's different to any I have seen on aircraft recently. It's similar to an edition that they circulated at some point during COVID when they were sending the magazines to P1's. It has some features on certain destinations and restaurants as well as the usual ads for watches / jewellery / cars / etcMy feeling entirely, it would be very disappointing if this was the P1 gift @Fergo747 - although as I haven’t been on a plane for 6 weeks wasn’t sure if this was different from the Qantas magazine on the planes currently……..
That’s what I’m thinking too. Plus having star alliance gold does make the the intra-Europe hops more bearable when not flying in JI'd probably go for the half and half option myself - mostly because SQ have better product and service overall, but also having significant status in both camps gives much more options for future travel.

Sounds like P1s may be getting more than just an exclusive magazine, after allAnyone else got a QF wine notification from Auspost?
Haven't ordered anything from them. Potential P1 gift?
