To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

... or all hype?

Good to read some positive experiences Kermatu. I wonder how the FlyAhead benefit works for Int flights. This is the P1 perk I use the most and it saves me heaps but only used it on Dom flights so far.

Only domestic use for me too - and mainly after flying into SYD from overseas. The staff at the transfer desk have always been terrific there and proactively offer me better flights. This time I knew the one I wanted so I got in first.

Agree. they are pretty good.

I was even amazed to get a seat on an earlier flight that I didn't ask for because it was showing as 0's in all cabins/classes via EF yet.... they got me on, in J, and in the seat I most like #winning

Has anyone heard if P1s will have the opportunity to buy Qantas corporate seats at the F1 in Melb this year?

Last year as a WP I had an offer through the qantas store to buy tickets with points. I'm a huge F1 fan and keeping my fingers crossed for this year!

I thought everyone got that offer, not just P1's.

Not 100% sure on this but there may be >1 corporate area for Qantas. If so the offering could be different?

While there may be a corporate hospitality suite, Qantas is no longer a major sponsor of the Grand Prix.

I consider a JQ flight number purchased from the QF website to be QF marketed.

No doubt QF disagrees...

By definition if it has a JQ flight number it isn't QF marketed.
When it comes to taking your money Qantas Group = QF.
When it comes to benefits Qantas Group != QF.

Just got an e-mail for 2 tickets to the Madonna concert in Melbourne next month.
Sadly we will be away and wont be able to take it up (not flying QF either oops!!)

Lovely thought though, thanks QF really appreciate the offer and sentiment.

ReLoad I have to thank you.

After reading the above comment, I was like, dam, I never get invited to anything, so I shot an email off to SST! & Mentioned I was in MEL coming back from LAX that day & said I would love to go to Madonna, take the wife, have a great night out. SST Said "they will see what they can do"

Just got an e-mail inviting me to Madonna on the 13th March!!!!

Thanks QF & thanks ReLoad for the Post as I would never have known, as myself in W.A get bugger all invites & was very lucky I was able to pinch an invite from VIC

I wonder how they target offers. I know one's profile preferences supposedly influence things (but only being allowed to select 3 things is criminal imho) but I wonder if there are other metrics.

great news on Madonna. I am in AKL that night but would have been lovely to be offered ('course maybe they see my booking so know)

Not sure I agree with that. If marketed on the QF web site and issued on QF stock, even with a JQ flight number, the flight would be QF marketed.

+1 for tickets to Madonna. Unfortunately had to pass as we'll be in LHR that day (flying QF).
Nevertheless very nice offer, thanks P1!

We are talking about terms used in a contract. They mean what they are defined to mean.
The reason why this is confusing is because the term "marketing carrier" has nothing to do with how the ticket was sold.
The term is used to make a distinction between the marketing carrier and the operating carrier.
It is mainly relevant to codeshares.

Was offered two tickets to The Rabbits opera and this time we can also attend, thanks P1!

This is not on tickets, but well done to those who have rec'd, enjoy.

This is a first for me, recently Per-Drw and my bag was first out, thought that was nice, haven't been to DRW lately maybe a change in baggage handlers being able to see the white disc. Anyway it was nice, got keys and gone in a short time.

Then on the return flight at Per, the same thing, my bag was first out, this doesn't happen!!!. Also I had finished work early and checked in about 2hrs before the flight.

Am off to PVG next week, I'll bet this doesn't happen in China.
