Hey guys, thought i would start off and say i been travelling with Qantas since Ansett went under. Been Platinum for a solid 8 years and always got between 1400-2000 status credits. This year i hit about 900 in May than took a Qantas/Royal Jordanian flight to Israel. Confirmed on 2 occasions that my flights which were a mixture of business/economy would get me around 250 status credits. To my shock on my return Qantas stated i booked the wrong class and get 0 credits and 0 points. I thought i did everything right, checked the website, double checked and triple checked. Qantas have simply responded with sorry can't help and you enjoy the Qantas Club once your platinum expires. Not sure about you guys but i think there are no loop holes or ways for them reconsider. I might as well start flying Virgin especially since i am lifetime Gold with Qantas. Any ideas....

If more than 50% of your travel is international I think you'd be crazy to try and maintain QF status once you are lifetime gold. There are many better, cheaper and more rewarding programs available to you.

As for flights not crediting... What fare classes were they booked in? I'm sure we can figure out if you should have received status credits and points

If your three year average SC is over 1200 SC, you should hopefully be comped WP for another year.

How is it that you got 0 status credits and 0 points in business? As far as I am aware, all business fares will credit something...

What fare class?
Eg. Up until recently there was a QR fare class that didn't earn

There appears to be two non-earning buckets on RJ.

From QF:

EF shows two others, assumingly Z is award and I is a deep-discount J (random date for AMM-IST on RJ):

The OP needs to advise what fare bucket it was in, but willing to bet it was one of these two unfortunately.

How many SC short are you now, and when does your membership year end? If it turns out that you were indeed booked in a non-earning fare class (this may or may nor be the case, but we need clarification on this before making a judgement) then it may be worth doing a status run to retain Platinum.

Welcome to AFF, QPR1975 (which I read as Queens Park Rangers or Qantas Premium :D ).

Interesting situation. From your post, it makes me think you were on Royal Jordanian flight numbers on a Qantas ticket. If so, then drewbles comments are spot on - we'd need to know the fare class of the ticket to be able to be certain of answering you correctly.

Looks to me like O, Q and N are non-earning Y buckets..but also could include P, W and R?? (some of these last three - could they be award buckets in Y?? - I'm not familiar)

Class "I" is discount business and doesn't appear in the earning table. So it seems likely the OP was booked in I.

Did you have an actual pnr in place when you called up QF so they could see the fare buckets the flights were booked in or was it more of a general enquiry?

If the latter scenario did the CSR mention you had to book your flights in a specific booking class as some fare buckets don't earn SC or points?

Reading the entire thread looks like was booked in a non earning fare bucket...

OP I'm sure you'll be comped WP for another year based on what you've written. I'll be honest, I've made many mistakes myself in trying to decipher SC earnings with QFF staff over different airlines that should earn, fare classes etc and they have always been super polite in proving me wrong in which I have eaten many a humble pies. But hey, that's the T&C's game.

..... Confirmed on 2 occasions that my flights which were a mixture of business/economy would get me around 250 status credits......I might as well start flying Virgin.......

"Confirmed" ?? How, who with? And confirmed you would get "around 250"?? "Around" ? Who gave you this advice? And what were you attempting to do, that made you, as an 8 yr WP frequent flyer, feel the need to confirm twice about the earn?

And you flew a combo of Qantas/Jordanian flights? Do you mean to say you flew Qantas internationally and got ZERO status credits and zero points?? That in itself is a hard feat.

And "I might as well start flying Virgin". Forgive me if I am completely off track, but someone who joins AFF to make a single post containing something like thi sfalls in my view as someone just wanting to vent. And I respect that. We all have disenchanted days. But please rejoin the conversation so we can understand exactly what happened :)
