I am flying out from Sydney to Dubai in August. Can I bring my wife into the First class lounge and then come out after some time and bring my daughter (19 years old) to the business lounge in T1 of Sydney? They are flying Qantas economy class only. Will they cross check between lounges?

Thanks

I haven't tried it personally, but I don't believe it's possible. I recall someone on here trying it previously (although may have been at MEL) and computer said no to guest at 2nd lounge.

You may have luck guesting one into QF F and one into EK as the systems are less likely to be linked (in real time anyway)

Worst case, could your daughter make use of the current lounge pass promo for 18-35 year olds?

Depends if they put it through the computer I suppose. My recent lounge entry with a guest, they scanned my boarding pass but not my guests.

And there have been many occasions where my boarding pass hasn't been scanned for lounge entry, they just take a quick look at it and waive me through.

I find this is common in domestic lounges where there's no requirement for your guest to be travelling on a particular flight/airline (or even travelling at all)

For international lounges I've always had both my BP and guest's BP scanned.

Can't imagine where this happens in an international lounge.

Ah yes sorry I missed that it was International. Probably no chance unless you have a very nice lounge agent who bends the rules, but that's pretty rare with Qantas.

I would front up to one or the other with both in tow and see what happens.

I have previously been told in the first lounge “as long as your the one family and all travelling together you are all welcome”.

Of course it may just have been one of those days.

You might get a lounge attendant that doesn’t scan but it’s process that they do for a couple of reasons, one to charge the right airline for the lounge access and two to see where you are!

If your platinum and the lounge isn't too busy all three of you should be let in without issue.

If not, can't hurt to go down to the business lounge and ask :)

I have an issue with lounge overcrowding. It's less of an issue on, say, Saturdays where SYD F can be a ghost town.

I don't think they put anything in the system about you entering the lounge and I've previously taken one family member into the business lounge, left them there, and then taken another into the first. But I noticed last time I went to the first lounge they stamped the boarding pass to indicate I'd gone into the first lounge. I assume that's to stop the double dipping now.

Alternative: If you have an AMEX card you may be able to guest your daughter to that lounge instead. Many cards offer a couple free visits each year.

Yes, that's exactly why they stamp your boarding pass with "first" now. If you're bringing a guest into the QF lounge, IME they also write a "1" on the boarding pass to indicate you've also brought in one guest. This would presumably work against you if you tried to then guest somebody into the J lounge.

I think asking nicely at the F lounge if they'll make an exception to let you bring in an extra guest is the best approach.

Are you flying on EK? If so, guest your daughter into the EK lounge and take your wife to the QF F lounge. The EK lounge is better than the QF J lounge anyway.

Thanks all for the useful info and options. Just checked again, as I am on the QF8415 flight (operated by EK) on a Saturday at 06:00, AMEX lounge will not be opened before boarding. Probably will guest my daughter into the Emirate lounge first and then guest my wife into the first lounge for a short breakfast as it opens at 5am.

Stamping is so they don't need to scan a second time. I asked. But could be to control number of guests. The attendant is also likely to remember you.
