Hi everybody
Opinions please,,I have already booked a flight from Dubai to Sydney in Business on the a380 qantas useing points but have now noticed that there is a flight with Emirates on the a380 available that would work for me..
When I read the skytrax customer seat reviews comparing the 2 airlines emirates comes out with more complaints..Qantas has their share but Emirates more so..( In business and only the a380 I am talking about that I have looked into.)
So anyone out there that has flown both..? One person even commented the emirates wasn't fully flat seat but surely they meant another plane..
So everyone help the fussy goat.!

Different product i guess, completly up to you!

I don't mind paying the penalty points for changing if I get evidence emirates is better..When you say different product ??
Cheers

The seats and service will be different.

The Qantas seat is wider but Emirates has direct aisle access and a mini bar.

You could always fly one over and the other back.

After which you shall sit down and write up a trip report for AFF. ok :)

Thanks Elbarto,,I didnt mention my husband and i are travelling together so the direct aisle assess is ok if he has to climb over me.. ! The wider seat seems to be the consensus on qantas which is great..The quality of food and the service is my next question.. the bar looks like fun but in reality if you are together we can do that from the comfort of our seat..
cheers

my experience says qantas. However have flown only the 777 on emirates. Qantas food and wine will be ahead. Crew attitude on the whole will be as good or better. Emirates is like flying with the United Nations.

Thanks Spruce....Think I am heading that way..Unless a Cathay comes up.London/Honkas/Sydney which I would like I think I might stay with what I have..That doesn't mean I don't want to hear others opinion...To the person that said try both one each way we are leaving Sydney with qantas to HK on the a380 and then Cathay to Delhi, heading to Bhutan and then Mumbai to Lodon with BA and so yes I can write a comparison report on the whole qantas one world alliance...

Smashing idea!!

EK does have the J bar at the rear of the A380 that I hear is impressing many (not that I have had the pleasure.... yet).

Can't say I have flown Qantas business class but flew Emirates BC on A380 to and from Dubai a few years back. Wonderful, could not fault it. Had fully flat beds too. The only downside of the whole trip was the bar at the rear. It was a very new concept and a couple of passengers took it as an open invitation to get really drunk and obnoxious and it seemed the staff made the judgement call to keep serving them in the hope they would eventually pass out, instead of suggesting they stop drinking.

Thanks Claire
Coukd be why Qantas has made theirs look so unatractive.!..I found a review written by Aff which some would say if you had of read that first I wouldn't have had to post the question...But it's still good to hear others opinions...Aff made Emirates to me come out on top but interestly on skytrax they seem to have more negs then qantas..
cheers

Chaffeur service on EK (not sure if that is yet matched by QF)
Also the EK config is to my liking. Upstairs is all F and J.

Personally I like the United Nations EK hostesses/stewards. I find QFI too top heavy with gay males and old boilers.
I prefer the Qantas IFE, but I really like the EK bar area. My experience with any airline J travel (no matter if you are in your seat or in the bar), the hostesses always liquor up the J pax. In F, they attempt to feed you to death.
Finally, if you fly J on EK, you might always be gifted an upgrade to F and use the showers. (which is a real possibility because their flights are often overbooked in Y)

Qantas would be the winner hands down in my eyes if it's the A380 on both. Much wider seats and usually more professional and consistent staff. EK while nice enough, will have more narrow seats and the crew consists of everything from professional and friendly to outright lazy and unwilling to do anything it seems at times. Just my impression from my recent flights. Food and drinks don't really make much of a difference but again, that's only my personal opinion.

I would suggest that if you'd like to have an International airline in the future, you might like to consider flying Qantas. They are really not that bad, and they will even bring the bar to your (wider) seat!

I have too many inconsistent experiences with EK, from fabulous to down right awful. QF (IMHO) is a more consistent option,

orsen Welles said there are only two emotions with flying. Boredom and terror. The drinks help with both!!

Just noticed that Emirates A380 is flying to BNE next year, as listed in QF booking engine. Anyone know when this will commence?
