Qantas (online) Shopping points prompter add-on - it's good!

I have 10 plus purchases totalling over 2500 in pending points still waiting going back to start of June. Hopefully they will come through eventually.

But there are some very important tips you always need to be aware of when using
a) the tracker and b) the Qantas shopping mall.

You missed another point: make sure any ad block is disabled.

I make these purchases generally via Qantas Mall / Virgin Atlantic Shops away / API / Cashrewards , and I always use a browser which does not have ad block installed. In my case, Opera with uBlock Origin is my daily working browser, so I browse there, then I would switch to Edge to actually make the purchases, as Edge is not my working browser, so it has no ad block, and this would ensure the cookies get saved and my orders are tracked properly.

Some purchases from June just credited last week, looks like maybe that partner only verifies purchases once a month for the 3 months prior i.e. all purchases form June posted 15 September, so I'm curious to see if my 5 purchases in July from them post 15 Oct.

Depending on the store returns policy it can take a few months or more for points to be credited.

Understand but given these all relate to fresh food delivery (something that cant be returned) was surprised took so long. Its different if you buy clothes or something that can be returned. I have had some undelivered items or damaged items refunded, but even so that is always done on the day of delivery not months later.

500 points to install. Just received this offer first thing today, anyone else? I wasn’t going to bite this sandwich, but now I might

Install the Qantas Shopping Points-Prompter, a free tool for your desktop browser that alerts you of points-earning opportunities when you're shopping online. It's the ultimate hack to help you never miss out on earning up to 13 points per $1 spent.

Install the Points-Prompter today to earn 500 bonus Qantas Points* - it's that easy. Hurry, offer ends 26 October 2020.

This would be off the back of installing Qandoo and its app for 900 points. All these points freebies make me uneasy; ‘twould be easy for QF to recoup its cost by devaluing its points.

cheers skip

Received the email today

I got the email but only offered 250 points.

I won't be biting as I'm concerned about the possible privacy implications of installing something like this. If Qantas clearly explained how they collected and used your data to provide this service, I might be more comfortable - but I can't see any information about this tool in their Privacy Policy.

I've had it installed for a few months but haven't used it as I always try to earn Velocity points, but some of the retailers on the QF shopping site aren't on VA's so I've done some shopping using the extension recently. Points with VA credit usually within 30 days, so far QF is taking longer but they do say some can take up to 90 days (!) to credit.

500 points here, but I also won't be installing. As far as I can tell, it looks at everything you are browsing, and is triggered when there is a match - but where else does all that data go? I'm not that big on 'privacy', but this seems too much - or maybe too much more.

The privacy policy states "The Qantas Shopping Points-Prompter does not retain or share any of your data, including your browsing history." So it sounds like it's solely tracking if the site you're on matches one of their earning retailers. You're also able to switch off auto tracking so that you have to manually check if the site you're on is affiliated with Qantas Shopping.
