The new title of this thread is actually incorrect - the capacity is coming from domestic. BNE/LAX is being swapped from a 787 to A330 which is actually an increase in number of seats.

Aren't the 332 slightly lower capacity than the 789s?
Plus you've got reductions to other American routes like YVR, SCL and DFW.

Qantas sells two fewer seats on the A330-200s flying BNE-LAX, vs the 789 (234 vs 236 seats) since they have to block all those economy seats to create crew rest.

FCO will be daily, non stop to/from PER
CDG will be 5x weekly (SYD-SIN-CDG)
LHR no change (via SIN outbound)
PER-SIN will be 10x weekly, timed to connect to CDG
Do we know when these will be bookable? I'm not seeing the daily PER-FCO yet when looking for flights on Qantas or EF... unless I'm missing it?

They are probably busy rebooking pax who were originally booked on QF flight numbers on EK or QR metal first before opening up remaining capacity.

Just had a look on Google Flights and the SYD-PER-FCO flights do show, but perhaps the talk of daily flights is a bit of Qantas PR spin.
Appears that SYD-PER-FCO will only run daily from the end of June to start of August so about 5 weeks.

The seasonal service is starting much earlier than previous years - start of May and begins flying six times a week from late May. From end of July it is back to four times a week at this stage.

Thanks for finding that.... disappointing though!

I suspect anything beyond August QF doesn't want to commit yet.

We have no idea about fuel situation, ME carriers, demand etc.

If the status quo remains, we might see some movement. But if things shift QF doesn't want to sell tickets they then have to cancel.

Running more flights though SIN could also be smart for the reason that it will be easier to refuel there than in Australia potentially.

Longhaul aircraft do not carry fuel for more than one leg, you need more fuel just to carry that fuel, it’s exponential.

The media reports say that the PER-CDG flight can increase capacity by having a stop in SIN. Is this because they have to fly empty seats on the direct flight? Or is there a different aircraft being used now?

They are blocking 50-60 Y seats on PER-CDG direct flight at the moment because of the routing they need to take. SIN avoids that.
