Not sure this is worth too much comment... just a quick confirmation?

My carefully laid plans for an anniversary trip were to coincide with a bit over an hour in MEL to enjoy some time in the Qantas Club (courtesy of BMI>BA silver card - we rarely fly atm!), and then also a lunch flight service from MEL to ADL. Anyhow, they've gone ahead and cancelled/changed flights now and I can either choose a 20min or so changeover in MEL (no time for Club) to catch the lunch flight, or can request a later flight with refreshment service to enjoy spending some time in the lounge in MEL. Would that 2nd option be the best choice - i.e. time at the club rather than lunch on the plane? (I did ask a qantas rep for once off arrival access into ADL lounge but they didn't seem to keen on the idea!)

Thanks in advance for experience shared...

The Qantas Club won't serve great lunch compared to the J lounge, but I'm not sure what the lunch option is in economy anyway. So a snack and a couple beers in the lounge could seem better than what they're serving on the plane, and then you always have the refreshment anyway.

Thanks Sam. I'm thinking we should be able to scratch something together in the Club? I had just seen a post in another thread about someone commenting you just get a piece of toast or something and thought maybe the economy plane lunch might be better after all!! Anyhow, I'll wait till tomorrow arvo and probably ask for the later flight at this stage so we can spend some time in MEL Qantas Club. Thanks again.

All you'll get in the Qantas Club is some ham/salami and cheeses as a rule. There will be some crackers and bread, but that's about all. The bar opens at midday if you want alcohol. There is also usually a soup and possibly a few small salads.

The food in the Qantas Club is not worth hanging around for. Every time i've needed a meal (back when I only had access to the QC) I would bring something in with me. The J lounge has better options and some reasonable salads

Not to mention (depending on the time of day) party pies, casseroles, etc in the J lounge.

Perhaps if you look at the thread where members highlight their travel, you and your + 1 could be guested in, if the stars align? (Unable to post link from iPad).

Last time I was in the QP at lunch time (prolly 4 months ago) they had nachos out for lunch.

Thanks folks... really appreciate input.
Given the comments about the QP on the one hand and the J lounge on the other, I wondered if there was any way to make a J lounge visit happen??? I did have in mind samiam's idea, but then came up with the one possible solution that could provide access to a J lounge - albeit I may now run out of time!! So, for the moment, we have changed our booking to go via Syd to ADL, making that second leg on the 'international' qf flight! We have 1hr 20 or so for changeover, so if it's smooth sailing through all the checks etc., we might get to sample the International J lounge! Should only have carry on, so don't know if that will help. If we don't have time, not too much lost it seems... they serve lunch on the flight anyhow.
Thanks again...
