SYD Dom J? Was happening for all Qantas Club customers last Wednesday evening around 8pm. Not sure when it started?

Years now i would say. On a typical night that isn't super busy or full of delays they consolidate at Sydney.

I'm not too sure about the other ports whether they consolidate as well.

This is not new. It happens regularly. Later in the evening when the lounges get fairly empty they close the QANTAS Club and direct everyone to the business lounge. This would help to reduce labour costs.

I've noticed it has happened in Melbourne many times.

Has happened on a number of Saturdays at Brisbane and Sydney in recent years. Other nights i notice it happens after 8pm.

I was flying BA in J and the flight was delayed so that everything in the entire terminal was shut except the F lounge so we were moved up there. I had a few glasses of the most divine champagne before it all got whisked away from us plebs who had descended on it like a bunch of vultures . To this day I don't know what it was and wish I'd taken note of it at the time.

Seen this in MEL, BNE and CBR, generally weekend off peak times. I assume it happens semi regularly in SYD as well but less obvious to me as you don't need to walk past the QP to get to or from the J lounge.

I pretty much exclusively pass through Sydney at night and given until last week you had to walk past the QC for elevator repairs I could probably count the number of times it’s been open when I arrive around 1930-2000 on one hand. Given only a handful of flights go out post 8PM I think it makes sense. Was nice last year when I was a SG. The only time I actually had to use the QC was July last year when the crowd strike outage occurred as there was a huge amount of disrupted passengers.

Happens a lot in CBR - weekends and especially over the January period when things are quieter.

Capacity issues in F lounge?

It's common practice at PER for late departures. They have signs at the QC redirecting flyers to the Business Lounge. It was nice to have some hot food options and better drinks before the overnight flight (11.55pm) to Melbourne - which brutally lands at 5.25am.

Yes, in 2018. Terminal 5.

In the late noughties and early 2010s the BA F Lounges at LHR used to stock Taittinger Comtes De Champagne Blanc De Blancs frequently. Outrageously good.

Qantas Club Lounge in Sydney closes at 9pm. If it's quiet, they'll close earlier and redirect remaining pax to J Lounge. Happened to me twice - once when my flight was delayed to 9:30pm departure and once when they told me they were closing early due to so few guests.

I upgraded myself in BNE one day...was my first time using priority security and I was talking to and following a group who went straight in to the Business Lounge, No checks were done by desk lady.
I didnt figure out till later it was not the usual lounge.
I also didnt realise the guy I was chatting with was a retired sports star...

My experience is that Perth does it early morning and late night.
