Interesting press release from Qantas, especially the bit about PER-SYD/MEL becoming exclusivly 767/A330 services within two years. Suggests what will happen to the A332's that Jetstar now has!

About Qantas - Newsroom

The Qantas Group today announced it would move to an all wide-body, twin-aisle aircraft on all of its services from Perth to Sydney and Melbourne within the next two years.

Qantas Executive General Manager John Borghetti said the move, which would see Airbus A330 and Boeing 767 aircraft exclusively used on these services, would provide more than 61,000 seats - an increase of more than 11,700 seats on these routes.

"This decision is a sign of our commitment to Western Australia, which is one of the biggest growth markets in Australia," Mr Borghetti said.

"We believe our all wide-body service on these key trans-continental business routes will ensure Qantas is offering the capacity, frequency, and comfort appropriate for the market," he said.

Hooray - though I'd like to see BNE-PER flights as all wide body as well. 5 hours in a 737 is too long!

Trivia, PER-BNE is the longest* DOM flight QANTAS do. Having a 737 do it is sad :(

*I think QF107/108 LAX-JFK maybe longer but that is not AU DOM and I don't think you can fly on it as a US DOM passanger

* How about Melbourne - Broome?:mrgreen:

Off that - checks numbers - PER - BNE still wins! Though SYD - Darwin looks long as well

This be True as well! Not only that, it's treated as an international flight for point/SC earning.

Was there ever any doubt about that?

There was some discussions at Qantas about where they would go, although this was always the clear favourite.
